The game freezes when I buy a "champion's churass(?)" and trying to equip it. This is reproducible. During the game I hava changed the size of the textures to 1024x1024. Maybe that is only allowed when starting a new game? A save game is available. But I don't know how to send it. Thanks in advance and a Happy New Year Heiner ... and continue the good work. Same "problem" with me. I am used to play GalCiv II. ... and with concentration I succeed at "tough". In Elemental even "novice" seems to be too difficult. At some point (around turn 300) the AI simply is too strong for me. I do like the game as such. But this is a bit disappointing. Maybe that is the lack of a solid tutorial with some hints for the inexperienced player. Nevertheless I like it and I enjoy it. So from now on the motto is "losing is fun" just like in "dwarf fort

Where is the problem? Counting in the history of Stardock regarding game support (GalCiv II for instance) it will "only" a matter of weeks for the game to be stable and playable. They really work hard at the problems. Call it an exercise in patience. ;-) Today you call it chaos, in four weeks from now you'll call it an interesting experience. So just calm down and wait a while. Things can only get better (and in case of Stardock they will get better

Bug: Whenever I define more than 5 rally points I cannot scroll forward in the "rally point selection screen". Does this only happen to me?? To reproduce it just define more than five rally points Release ist 1.0x.10 but it has been in 1.0x.009 as well. Other than that I really have fun with GalCiv ... if only I could win on better than "normal".

Oooops there is always something to learn... I just had a try at that. Yes it did work and I didn't know that. So this would ease my concern. But still the game runs with admin abilities which it should not do. I am used to log in as "administrator" resp. "root" whenever I change something at system level. I'd rather be a "normal" user whenever I conquer systems. <img src=

Maybe I am a bit paranoid but .... GalCiv II as well as GalCIv have to be started with administrator rights. Personally I like to work with an account who has much lesser authority than "administrator" especially when surfing the web. Will there ever be an installtation routine or an installation option which will allow a restricted user to play the game? I tried to search all the forum but could not find a search facility. So m

Feedback concerning Transgaming. At last I took the risk subscribing to transgaming. Installed WineX. First try was to do the installation of galciv via the HowTo of fusibou and Topy Paavola. This essentially means a step by step copy of directories with manual editing of configuration decks. No success. I totally mixed it up. This is probably my fault and not the problem of the Howto as i tried to take some shortcuts. ...well :( Second try was the installation of the basi

Once upon a time I got it running with linux based on SUSE 8.2. I did it with cvswinex and the most valuable HowTo of fusibou and Topy Paavola (a search should be sufficient) Since updating to 9.1 I somehow managed to scramble it up. I am still researching! Whenever I get a new idea I shall post it here. Right now no luck (but maybe I am miserably off the path ) (:( Is there any feedback from Transgaming.com? A new success story regarding WineX? Thi

@maxtipherous I gave it a try and have been quite successful. ;) One thing still bothers me. I do not seem to be able to get my economy in line. Do you still trade a lot with minor ones? Up to now I just trade for techs and once in a while for money just to keep my sheet balanced. My trade routes don't give me that much money. Only about 400 to 500 bc per turn. What do I miss?

thank you fusibou for the howto. I managed to get it running with WineX and SUSE 8.2. BTW: Those fixes on source code level are no longer needed. Tese have been integrated to the CVS code. The only hassle remains with those dll's and the game upgrade process and submission to metaverse Well ... and on my side there is no sound and movies only with lots of pauses. (:( But speed (800MHz)is much much better than on my notebook (233MHz) Question: doe

Some news regarding multimedia. There still is hope! I have been too stupid to realize that multimedia did not install because of "disk full" condition. Problem was a disk with 400 MB free space. So at start of download no complain from SDC. But at some time both files exist on disk: the compressed archive as well as the uncompressed install files. Both of these consume disk space of about 600 to 700 MB disk space which my disk could not deliver. This resulted in error mes

One more stupid question regarding stupid space sharks. There seems to exist a way to sheppard them to those lovely aliens. But how? I do succeed in guiding it to an alien system. Still it just continues to follow the survey ship. No chance to get it interested in alien stars and their ship located at those stars. Any idea? What do I do wrong? Shaffer

@Gonzo73 leider liegt hier ein Irrtum Deinerseits vor. Der Support der deutschen Version scheint nicht in den Haenden von Stardock zu sein. Modern-Games ist Dein Ansprechpartner! Also bitte keine Beleidigungen! >:( ... and now in english (I can't speak or write swedish ;p ) The support for the german version is being done by modern-games. So please enerve them and do not flame in this forum. As far as I am being concerned Stardock does an exceptional good support for the engl

@civilis As far as I remember yes! With the upgraded W2K (case 2) even the CD only installation has been working. But ... I needed the CD whenever I wanted to play. Not a bug, it's a feature of the german distributor. They obviously implemented a CD check. :( As I didn't want to always insert the CD into my laptop (the only one with a Windows system just for GalCiv!) I preferred the Stardock Central version. Regarding your last point: I have not been able to uninsta

@Darklor History: 1) Installed German version => Game doesn't start 2) upgraded Win2000, game does start 3) upgraded GalCiv to 1.10A.073 => Game does start, I have been able to finish my first game New games abort whenever a (new) expansion pack anomaly like green bubble or golden red sike ball are being explored or surveyed. (error log and smart exception log have been sent to support) 4) uninstalled the game

@StarPilot Yes you are probalbly right. In one of my brighter moments I came to the same conclusion at last. ;) So we still are talking about a survey ship exception. I sent the error log and the smart exception log to support. Hope it helps.

The german version crashed. So I upgraded to 1.10A.073. I have been able to play on tiny(?). In my newest game, I can't survey an anomaly which looks like a green deformed ball. It crashes to desktop. Same with an anomaly looking like lots of spikes in red gold (?). CTD. (:( So I don't survey those. Now it crashes for no obvious reason. Can you please help? I got a save game a smart exception and the error log.

Yes you are right. The german publisher obviously did put on a CD check. That's why I mentioned the circumvention. ;) Having read the article of Draginol about CD checks I don't think this behaviour has been discussed with Stardock.
