Does this happen in other games too mikeswi? If not ignore the text below. No, my other games are fine. I play San Andreas and TORCS for hours without this sort of thing. Also, I removed 1.3b.22 and replaced it 1.3b.20 (the previous patch) and played for hours. No crazy corruption and it's stopped trying to switch to 3D view. If I can h

Okay..... I keep getting some nasty video corruption. It starts with it constantly trying to flip to 3D mode from tactical, then eventually the video is corrupted and I see crazy shit like this . This has happened maybe 5 times since my last post an hour or so ago.
In fact is seems the ship is restored to max HP if it was previously damaged! I've seen that a couple times too. One was when a starbase survived an attack. It received ~45hp of damage, but was back to a full 48hp on the next turn. It's happened to one of my frigates and it happened to a Dread Lord ship that I nearly destroyed. I've also
I just had the "decommissioning buildings too quickly == instant death" thing too. I had a queue lined up, changed my mind and went to delete two buildings and it got hung up and crashed. EDIT: Gaahhh... Happening constantly now. Seems it doesn't like me using the delete key? Haven't seen it happen using the mouse on the X button.
I'm seeing some odd behavior out of the Arceans set on Bright. They keep decommissioning starbases for no apparent reason. They've done it at least 4 times now. Back to the food trouble.... I didn't notice it until a planet nearly revolted on me, but I had a planet with a farm sitting on a 300% food bonus. The Drengin surrendered it to me and that's how they built it. It could be that this is how it's supposed to do it, but I don't remember it being like this. It is a

Those are the new values for 1.3 beta 3x. Ugh. Minor bug, but I've noticed it since 1.0. I guess nobody ever reported it? Occasionally, one race will call up another and the player's race gives an automatic reply. The autoreply refers to the leader of the alien race with the name of the player's race. <a href="http://ww
Umm...... Civilization capital says it can feed 12 billion, without a farm. Should be 10b. Basic farm says it can only feed 3b. Should be 4b. Xeno farm says it can only feed 5b. Should be 6b. At least one colony is totally confused about how many it's supposed to feed. It says the max population level is 3b, yet there are 8b currently on the planet. It also says max food production is 3b. The basic farm says it's feeding 3b. The initial colony says it is feedin
I have the problem of not being able to see the planet name either. The text area seems to have the color of whatever race you are playing as (Altarian in this case).
The planet's PQ drops, the trade good is lost and can never be built again.
I don't think they make alliances to get closer to a diplo victory. I'm pretty sure they do it for protection or because they like the other race. The so-called "good" races and the Drath nearly always ally with each other in my games, assuming they survive long enough.
Soylent Green!!!!!
(at least I've never seen an attack roll 0 to undefended ship). I have. And let me tell you, I was ready to set fire to the computer when it happened. Before the "Are defenses too expensive" thread made me realize that heavy defenses are counterproductive, I was building ships with enormous defensive strength and only moderate firep
All of which just proves what I already knew - Mass drivers are teh sux0r. Takes too long to go up the tech tree and they're too large once you have them. A fighter with 5 railguns could have had 6 or 7 lasers. The missiles are kind of a shock. It looks like if you go any higher than photon torpedoes, their cost suddenly skyrockets. Which does match my experience. It takes a hell of a long time to go from photon torps to antimatter torps. And it looks like black hole missil
Once they set a ship on autopilot, they leave it on autopilot regardless of circumstances. You ought to see transports and escorts dancing around each other trying to mate up, when neither of them will be still long enough to hit the same square at the same time. Funny as hell to watch it. EDIT: By which, I meant that I agree that they see that planet first and have already sent a ship towards it. The ship's on autopilot and they only change course if someone beats them there.
I wish it would say something a little more informative than "we know what you're doing". I've seen it a number of times where I'm not doing anything for them to know about. No warships near them or their bases. I'm not running out the tech tree to get a tech victory. I haven't conquered anyone. Just what the hell do they think I'm doing?????
What intelligence level? Their economy runs real hot above "Intelligent". They also might have found a couple of 2500bc anomalies early on. Or they have a precursor mine on Earth or something. There's severals way they could do it.
I wonder why it is that it's the same races that become troublesome in nearly every game, but it's different races for different people? In my games, the Terrans hardly expand at all and always get clobbered. The Thalans get clobbered whether they expand or not. For other people, they are almost always the biggest threat. It seems like the Torians are a pain in everybody's ass though. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmid
I've deliberately not asked him for many details, because I really don't want to know too much about it. That one guy's high scores are partly due to having gargantuan population and he's found some foolproof method to grab nearly everything during the colony rush and keep the AI under thumb long enough to exterminate them. Plus it's on suicial, which gives a bonus to the score. Plus it's an extremely short game, so more points. And another bonus for it ending on a military victory ra
It's nearly always the Drengin, Altarians and/or Torians that dominate things in my games. As soon as the game starts, friggin Torian colony ships scatter like someone turned on the lights in a room full of cockroaches. The Yor do well at first about half the time, but eventually somebody creams them. Same with the Arceans and Korx. The rest of them might as well be Vegans.
Keep in mind that all the advice above referred to earlier versions of the game. You used to be able to kill a ship in one shot and it would never have the chance to fire back. As of version 1.2, dead ships fire back once, so fighting with Dread Lords is gruesome work. They also made the AI more sensitive about their transports, so now they escort them. They used to just leave them scattered all over the place with no escorts.
I'm on the side of having the ships go to whoever receives the surrender. Let's say you and your ally are going at it hammer and tongs against some powerful civ, then your ally suddenly decides to pack it in and gives you his worlds. All well and good, except now you have half a dozen or so planets with enemy transports sitting right on top of them and no friendly warships in sight. Ugh! I've been on both sides of that. In one game, I was beating the Iconians,
You can see all of them in Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Data\English\Events.xml
Could you be a little more specific? You've linked to the front page of another site. Nevermind. Missed the part about it being in the download section. I have a question about adding the ship. How would I change it to show up as another race's style? Terran-style hulls are awful, so I use Altarian or Drengin instead.
No, it's a real rally point, although why they're still using it is beyond me.
