They should be made to pay for the direct worldwide damages for their actions, even if it runs into the millions. It will basically make them think twice about who they are effecting and how much damage is being done in real terms. They should take full responsibility for their actions. Digital or not, it's a form of vandalism on a huge scale.

Jafo... your right. Viruses would just start sending .zip files instead to get around that... and if you've got an idiot on the other end, nothing is going to stop him clicking on that 'wicked screensaver' Virus writers? bahh... I blame the idiot users out there clicking on unknown attachments.

yepp... it's funny but I don't think it's easing off at all - in fact, if anything I think it's getting worse. I just wish email gateways would block all executable attachments... it would seriously reduce the amount of virus traffic - and if people want to send them, they can zip them up.

I hear ya mormegil... this thing sucks. Anyone that has a public email address on the net or includes their email in their skins gets blasted even more. I'm currently receiving 1 virus email or failure notice every 25 seconds at the moment, and overnight it overloaded my 30MB POP3 account

Guys... this virus isn't just using the address book of an infected machine to send out the emails. It ALSO uses the internet temp cache on the machine - so it will scan for emails within the temp files of recent web pages that the infected machine has visited. This means that anyone with a website or visible public email address on the net is going to get even more mails sent to them.

Tell me about it... Over here in the UK we are baking compared to our normal crappy rain we get But I'd still rather be here than in Iraq where the temp just hit 53C today and has been like that for around a week.

What a coincidence... I just got emailed something from a 'visitor' of my website, and it sounds much the same; basically stating that they like my work but hate something else about it, and generally being rude about the whole thing. Here is a copy of the email I got: ------------------------ I visited you're site, looking for some free icons, to try and see if I would enjoy a different looking desktop. I found icons by the bushel. Many that are truly art works.

21% ... makes you think though because some of those questions were just good general knowledge that is handy to know; so are all 'intelligent' people geeks? and are all geeks ‘intelligent’?

I have a cool idea. In the help forum, when starting a thread - you should be able to set an 'icon' (16x16) for the thread, and that icon is shown next to each thread (on the left) By 'icon' I mean an symbol so that people can quickly glance over the board and see what people need help with. Basically, the starter of the thread selects a 'winamp icon' if it's a winamp skinning

I agree with mormegil, the number of 'general' totally-out-there posts has increased dramatically over the last couple of months, and it does sometimes keep me away from these boards - or at the very least make it harder to actually spot the good threads. I am all in favour of the 3 boards idea, and those sections sound good Frogboy - there will still be 'over-spill' and the irrelevant posts in all the forums but at least it will cut it down quite a bit, and getting all those help posts
