check out: Neowin's forums http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?s=cd64477d7b10bf4933074f668556b30c&act=SF&f=42 - it's a great place to find and request icons. I believe they have a Forte Agent and an Object Desktop icon there if you delve in deep enough and do a search for them
Hell Dragon
lol @ joetheblow the news post is about Neowin being shut down - of course you can't access the site!
UHRBid; a script virus (.vbs etc..) is not a buffer-overflow exploit, or related to a datafile virus in anyway. A script virus works much like any .exe/.com/.scr virus does, since scripts are *designed* to be executed. Regarding the winamp mp3 virus... just Google it (I love saying that to someone
UHRBid; data can have a virus written into it's header tags or readable areas, this happened recently with the MP3 virus scare with winamp (which has been acknowledged and fixed). As long as the OS is reading a variable to memory it can be buffer-overflowed and cause the program to execute code that could compromise the system and then carry out whatever it wants (payload & replication etc...) It's important to remember that although the file itself might not be executable, the
What do you type in if your searching for something/someone unknown? You type in the type of music you are looking for, (e.g. 'Drum and Bass', 'Acid Jazz', 'EuroTrance' etc...) or list all the files a particular person has and therefore get a taste for what he likes (popular and unknown alike). I have found many many new & unknown artists this way, and often have then gone on to buy their albums and recommend them to my friends as well.
MSN... nice and simple. I almost gag at the amount of bloatware that ICQ has in it.
http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?s=6a491c675615102f4f7738a62e9054c0&act=SF&f=42 the neowin forums are always a great place to find (and request) icons.
Ahh, so that's why they picked today to launch the 3G mobile network in the UK... *slaps head* just dawned on me now
Unless you mask it, your IP address is with you wherever you go, in every log of every website you visit, in every header of every packet you send and receive. The internet was designed as an 'Open' network from it's very creation... better get used to the idea that your IP just isn't as hidden as you would like it to be
Nice work guys, their 'More Skins...' page is down. It seems there is hope after all
They only way Adware would 'catch' it, is if Lavasoft added the google dll's and toolbar to it's signature files, the very reason why they haven't yet is reason enough to believe it's not a big deal anyway.
Well the key point of my idea is to have 2 boards only... ever. (of course the admins will have an extra one, but that effects the very small minority of the total users of the site) To be honest, I can't think of any customization sites that have just 2 boards... deviantART has loads, Deskmod quite a few, Customize.org just 1 (but not many posts), VelocityART also has quite a few, as does ArtUproar. 2 Boards really won't take long to check, just pop in the one
Yeah... Shoggot did something called thread archiving - can't say I was too keen on that personally. Hmm... I do totally see where you guys are coming from about keeping the pure simplicity of the board though - but at the moment I find myself wading through so much 'other' stuff that is can be hard to spot something relevant in between all the jokes, personal messages and just plain silly posts. I basically just took a quick glance on the board and saw about 50% skinning & cus
I see where you coming from Elfkura... your thinking along the lines of deviantART or Deskmod - but with this idea there would never be more than 2 forums. Basically one for Skinning & Customizing discussions and questions, and the other one for everything else under the sun. I think this would work very well, and it really wouldn't take much getting used to - and compared to how the board is at the moment (the word 'jumbled' comes to mind <img src="http://images.stardock.com/i
I personally think it's finally getting to the point where we need 2 forums - a 'General Forum', to talk about anything, jokes, music & misc. stuff etc.. and an actual 'Skinning & Customization Forum'. We need to separate the 2 different areas over here at Wincustomize because it's getting more popular now and splitting the forums into 2 won't take much getting used to, but will improve the site's usability and focus dramatically in my opinion.
Here's a tip I use quite a bit... Windows key + pause key, brings up the System properties window. Simple, but handy
Neowin's forums are often very active on the customization scene; and have new skin, icon & wallpapers released directly within the various forum categories on the site. This is most likely why they are included in the customization index Frogboy is using.
To quickly sum it up; it's basically a device projecting the bookcase 'background' onto a certain colour (in this case I think it was green), and only within the actual viewscreen that we see the movie on. So only the green objects in the scene are projected onto (brick, ball, coat etc...) - think along the same lines as a bluescreen used for movie effects accept it's a little more advanced and can project where it wants therefore giving the illusion that you can 'see' through it. This
Mines's http://www.darkproject.com/ - I don't update it nearly as much as I would like to (just too busy lately)... but hopefully that will change in the near future.
Happy Birthday BoXXi... your as young as you feel
hmm...sorry, healthy _competition_ I meant
Yeah… I would like to see another GUI Olympics too; maybe with more categories this time. Since deviantART has grown so big maybe they could host it? and the prizes could be 'sponsored by xxxxxx'. I think that would be more palatable for those with objections. You could have Nullsoft sponsoring a Winamp category (2.x skins, WA3 skins etc), Axialis & Stardock sponsoring Icon Design (24bit, XP icons, Object dock etc...), and then Stardock also sponsoring WindowBl
First of all... great new look Russ; lookin' sweet Here are the bugs/issues that I found with the site. 1) When you go to the main page (i.e. homepage.htm) and click on the 'home' link at the top you get a 404 error. I'm not sure if other pages do this too; I didn't check them all. 2)Also, the text under the 'What is Dangeruss Industries' is a little hard to read because of the wh
err... just=used
I've just IconForge in the past... wasn't impressed with it much to be honest. Microangelo and IconWorkshop are the way to go in terms of icon design tools.
