thecookiejar, Well your DOB shows in the database as you being born in 1983, so you may wish to update that But the Male bit doesnt make any sense. I'll have a look and see what's up. (The db shows you as a Female, so something is wonky there)

Edit - I've also noticed that for your Stardock.Net account, you have your gender set to male as well. Now, the Personal Info tab says that you're a female ok, but the Stardock.Net account says Male. So I'm not entirely sure which one to use. T-man gets back this week from vacation and I'll have a chat with him to see what we should do about possibly consolidating these. For the time being, you can use the Stardock Account tab in My Settings to change that information.

Adds still = yes. Oh, and have noticed that when I get the wincustomize[1].txt, I can browse about 3 or 4 pages ok, then the same cookie will switch to wincustomize[2]. Then the adds are back.

Man that's bizzare. I definately do not have the same thing happening here. Regardless, it could be related to that. Excellent investigative work

if that is true, then why does netscape and internet explorer remember the password information? they both are also set to remove all cookies when closing. and they both remember my login information and do not require me to retype it in everytime i visit this site. i just do not want to keep having to type my login everytime i come here.



i hate to say this, but i'm not ready to accept the fact that this is an issue with "Firefox doing something wonky with it's auto-field-fill-in dealy", i say that because this issue started when the new wincustomize came out. but just to make sure, i will go ahead and install firefox 1.5 and see if it happens with that version too. just so i can make sure firefox 2 is not the source of the issue.

Wincustomize and the forums use cookies. If you delete your cookies when you close your browser, then kiss your login goodbye. You will have to login again. That is how the site is designed. If you have enabled features or settings that are not default and the site is not behaving as you expect, then switch to default settings. You are always more than welcome to submit a ticket to [email protected] (At this point, I would encourage you to). If the uppers feel that this should be a priority matter then they will assign it as one

For me the last couple of days the site has been extremely slow and the Logonstudio Vista gallery hasn't been updated. Links to logons i have submitted come back as 404 error file not found(the links in the acceptance emails).

cjwoodfill, We're doing some work to debug an issue that may be somehow related to what you're seeing. I cant say for sure yet, but it follows the errors that Z71 has reported. I dont have anything more at the moment, but I thought I would mention it none the less.

not to be rude, but THE ISSUE IS NOT WETHER OR NOT I'M ALREADY LOGGED IN WHEN I COME HERE!!!

the issue is are fields that says NICKNAME and PASSWORD. otherwise known as the LOGIN FIELDS.

i can remove the stored password info for this site in firefox. i can type my nickname "c.j. woodfill" then i can type my password. firefox then prompts me if i want to remember the password information. i select REMEMBER. by doing this, the next time i come to this site, my NICKNAME and PASSWORD should be there already WITHOUT me having to retype them in. but what is happening is that MY LOGIN INFORMATION IS NOT THERE WHEN I COME BACK TO THE SITE!!! instead it has the default NICKNAME for the nickname.

i already know that this site relies on cookies inorder to remember whether or not you are logged in if the user decides to go to a different site. that aspect works fine. i can come here, log in, and if i go to another site and come back, then it does remember the fact that i never logged out. 99.99999% of the websites around the world that requires a log in is set up that way. but like i said, that's not the issue

Thanks for the help. I did change it on Stardock, but still shows as Male, 23...LOL! It's not a big thing, just something to add to the list. BTW...how can I change my email address for Wincustomize to my new one that Stardock has on record? I have looked for a place to change that and no luck. Thanks again!

I used FireFox 2 with the old site and after cleaning cookies each nite my login info was already typed into the appropriate fields in the old Wincustomzie. That no longer happens here. I logged in, browsed then logged out from here this am, closed the tab, waited 10 mins. Did not touch the cookies nor close FireFox and loaded wincustomize again. The word Nickname and an unknown password was in that field again. I again had to type the first letter of my login, clicked on the dropdown containing my login and hit the login button & was logged in again.

So the site is in fact saving the info even when I clean my cookies as I did before logging in this evening. I had to do the same thing, type in my first letter and select the dropdown with filled in my passowrd and login. As with all my other login sites there is no problem deleting my cookies, its just the necessity of having to type in that first letter and accessing the dropdown at this site.

I think I saw someone mention the bug about personal pages/profiles coming up as 404, it only happens when clicking on links that include the user id number at the end (ie: https://www.wincustomize.com/info.aspx?acid=1143580) but I can still get to my personal page just fine by using http://bebibulma.wincustomize.com or even http://users.wincustomize.com/bebi bulma.

Forgot to add: the images seem to be back in the new skin notification emails.

I'm still having a problem with uploading photos to my photo gallery with IE7/Vista. Clicking on 'send' crashes IE forcing it to restart.

this started today...when i click on my watchlist, i get a 404 error

Same here I can't access it from the front page but when I go to forums or a recent post I can access my watchlist.

cjwoodfill, Well that makes heaps more sense. Yeah, there is some javascript that is running which puts those values in the login fields. Either firefox is obeying and not trying to insert it's own, or we're overriding it once firefox has inserted it. The best I can do for you on this is to send the complaint about the functionality down the line. I can't promise it'll get removed, but I'll give your complaint a voice

Regarding the 404s. Yeah, they started appearing yesterday. We were dealing with a crazy login issue all day yesterday and couldnt address the 404 errors. I'll be having a look at them today, however. Is it a full moon or something? Because the last few days we've had crazy random problems pop up that havent been a problem since we launched...

Oddly enough I havent had too much trouble the last few days - but I have had the same problem as cjwoodfill since the site launched - I can't get firefox to hold my user name and password no matter what I try - I have to re-add it each time I come back.
I was hoping it would fix itself ...

I'm not sure where I should post this so I'll start here and see what happens.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that the download numbers on the summary pages are not correct.

If you check out total windowblinds downloads by author for the past 30 days,
it shows that I have 1797 (a decent number in the wb category to be sure) but it should probably higher than that. I just released an update to one of my wb themes (black vista basic) on feb.4, and it was @ 23000 total downloads on the 4th, it's now @ 27900+, so in the last week it's gained 4000+ downloads and that doesn't include the downloads that I've rec'd on my other 2 wb's. However, the wb summary page for the past 30 days doesn't reflect this. Same thing for the summary page for bootskins (just change the libid value in the link above to 32). My bootskin downloads have dropped quite a bit which is accurate but I still think I have higher download#'s than are being shown on the page.

I also notice that the summary pages that show downloads for "yesterday" don't happen to work at all. I've tried this on other pc's just to rule out a problem on my own pc's and it doesn't produce any results. The page doesn't error out or produce any error messages, it just blanks out the page, no data is shown under any of the column headers.

Should I be posting this here or under another thread - I don't think I need to start another thread just for this? Has anyone else seen this? Is this just a site issue that will be worked on in the future as time permits?

Not sure if mentioned, and this is also new to me. Today after logging in, I log in as kperry, a few seconds later it changes to (Stardock User) I have checked to see if my WinCustomize subscription is expired, and seems I'm good until November.

With this login, I am receiving all the (un-wanted) ads on each page I visit.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, and this thread is getting a little long to go thru and check. Downloading of skins is very slow, has been since day one of new site.
I just downloaded a wallpaper before posting as one last test. The download rate never got above 40 KB per second for a 2.3 MB file. I am on a 5 meg DSL, it is capable of downloading at 500 plus KB per second. I have tested downloads morning, noon and night, time of day makes no difference.
I always test at other sites to make sure it is not my end, while typing this I went to another skinning site and downloaded a 8.9 meg file in 19 seconds.

But, I am staying log-in longer this time...........

I'm having the same problem. I'm using SDC 2.38d.213(Beta)build 140, XP SP2 and have no error messages. I just can't login and I'm being auto logged in as stardock user. ***edit*** The problem seems to have corrected itself.

And, since I reported this awhile back, I still can't insert line feeds in my posts, replies, or when editing posts. As noted above I'm using SDC 2.38d.213(Beta) build 140. I press the enter key and nothing happens. I don't get any line feed. Do I need to report this elsewhere?

Works fine in Firefox.
