Freetype is library that generates font glyph bitmaps that you copy into a texture. When you render a character, it's rendered as a quad with that texture. If you were using Freetype and you weren't getting antialiased glyph bitmaps, that's hilarious. RTFM Stardock developers. If anyone is making jackass comments, it's you. You're trumpeting "advanced" tech that is 10 years old. Newbie graphics programmers can do this stuff, frogboy.

Or you could have done what smart people do and just use freetype. Man o man, this amazing Stardock technology is AMAZING! Snarkiness aside, the terrible 90'sesque font rendering is something I've always noticed with the various Elemental screenshots.

How are you going to address 8TB of memory when your registers are only 32-bit (EIP, etc). Even in the AMD 64-bit extended architecture, your 32-bit processes are limited to EXX registers and aren't aware of the 64-bit ones (EIP is inside of RIP). I think I know why your games are what they are.

What??? What kind of slapped together architecture does this game have? This is almost as funny as the last post about "multithreading." LOL!

BEHOLD the power of poorly done Blinn Phong lighting with normal maps! This is so state of the art I think I'm going to put on some flannel, go fire up the original UT and listen to some quad city DJ's. It's great to see you guys getting jiggy with the graphics card... I can't wait to see whats next!

It's funny that a "2010 AAA game" would have such a late 90's architecture. FYI shoe horning concurrency into an older design is not fun or easy. Your task doesn't just become twice as hard, it becomes exponentially harder.

It doesn't matter which language they use. This is a company that couldn't get an engine with a circa 2000 level feature set working after hacking on it for what 4-5 years? They did Demigod's networking... guess which part was a massive failure? LOLs will ensue no matter which avenue they go down.

Right, except that a lot of times the real issue is that the dev is relying on some behavior that one family of gpus exhibits but doesn't exist elsewhere. Then it "becomes a driver bug" for that other family of GPUs that the behavior is different on, even if it's really a misapplication of an API or failure to understand the specification on the dev's part. Lets just call it "magic."
Really? The Nvidia website's store lists 14 different models http://www.nvidia.com/object/graphics_cards_buy_now.html . Even if you combine all the GTXs into one, all the GTs into one, etc, you still get five different models. AMD/ATI individually list over 25 different GPUs, combined into the series there are least five http://w
And how many different options are there for each of those brands are there? 32 and 64-bit Windows 7 (and if you include all the people still on XP and Vista...). How many different lines of Nvidia GPUs are there? A lot, and the same goes for ATI.
There's a handful of GPU families but not many.
Every Xbox 360 is fundamentally the same (with the possible exception of hardrive space). If one 360 can play a particular game, they all can. The same is not true o
Compare that to the who-knows-how-many different configurations of PCs that are out there, and the fact that two machines can be identical in every way except for one component, and a given piece of software can work on one but not the other.
The only real differences are the OS and the GPU family. That's where 99% of the platform differences lie. So lets see: Windows, Mac, Linux (if you count Linux), Nvidia, ATI and Intel. It's not as different as you have been l
