What exactly am I supposed to be speaking to here? Do you really care about the modeling in the face of the data collected? The simple fact is that we are altering the earth’s natural hot/cold cycles and that is undeniable,
Well, I had expected more takers on this topic as everyone seems to think they are so well informed and knowledgeable. I think there is some confusion between ones level of understanding and the actual knowledge necessary to substantiate their understanding in the first place. I just happen to believe that the truth is obvious to even the most casual observer and it is our own fears, inhibitions and misconceptions that complicate the issues at hand. Personally I think we have a good grasp on
I don’t have a problem with atheists — each to his own comfort level — nonetheless, it is ridiculous for one of that inclination to get rattled to the extent that others of belief are denied their comfort. Atheism by definition is free from religion. Theists are free to believe as they see fit; atheists should look upon these " misguided" as pathetic but have the right to the "wrong" path. If, however, atheist take on the passion of "religion" in their belief that the
Neilo thanks … now to pick out some place for the forget-me-not tattoo. Any atheists want to chime in hahaha … seems the Christians are just speechless.
Huh?
Sorry, but we seem to have a personality mismatch whenever we try to have a 'discourse' which usually turns out not to be very discourse-full at all ... so I was just dismissing myself from this discussion before that point is reached is all.
2 of 3: What OS are you running? The MFG of the drive (or laptop) should have some diagnostic programs that may help. I know WD has them... My experience is that most HDD failures are pretty obvious ... as in no boot up. Backing up ALL personal data first is definitely a must and unless you have two discreet hard drives, I would recommend an external drive such as one of the many different and economical books available. What did the CHKDSK reveal? Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful
I spent the better part of yesterday trying to find a minimally responsible expression of creation ‘science’ but was unable to, no real surprise there I suppose. What perplexes me is why biblical realists feel the need to try and use science to disprove evolution ... when it is that very same science they are trying to prove as unfounded in the first place? If there is a better way of shooting one’s own foot … I don’t know what that might be. The arguments I hav

Humm, no takers huh ... that should tell us something important. If one is prone to be a biblical literalist, all fine and well, no skin off my nose ... don't call me is all. How about listing something externally generated as proof or even as a reason to consider ID as anything besides Creationism repackaged. There has to be a starting point ... somewhere all of us feel comfortable enough anyway to actually carry on a constructive conversation. In my book, self-honesty is as good a place to start as any. Don't get me wrong here because I know we believe a lot of things to be true which of itself doesn't make them so. I like to describe this as bein

I think this would be most difficult at best if we don’t discuss why the barriers are set in place in the first place. A list of things we as a species lie to ourselves about (on purpose or otherwise) would probably rival the w
A real conversation here would be one where people were honest about their own reasons for struggling with truths personally. Sadly, this is the internet.
David, I assume honesty is in all our minds (here, now) and I am not interested in someone who practices deceit. At a basic level, we need to understand the difference between a 'difference of opinion' and a ‘deceitful argument’. I think this need must be accomplished
I can only envision such mental barriers as a protection factor … so the next question would be ‘protection from what?’ I see no reason why any sentient creature could have serious problems with bettering the old personal database.
My biggest stumbling block here is the "there really isn't any truth" perspective.
You missed the point entirely David. It is not so much that there is no truth to be told ... it just varies due to the complexities of living in a real world where we are NOT in absolute control of much besides ourselves. Well my windows experience index on the 'big boy' is 5.9 based on the HDD data transfer rate ... everything else if 7.2 or higher (is that good today?) ... and 4.5 due to the video card on my soon to be target. On a personal level (where we like to communicate) this should work well enough in theory assuming at least some common ground and experience. But when dealing with organiza
