I kind of like the old Master of Orion 2 model where you keep researching tech and it keeps reducing the size of ship components, so you can really pack stuff in there after a while.
I agree with this. It needs a setting to shut off the queue. So far I find I'm spending more time fighting with the construction orders than doing anything else. It would be ok in the later game to turn it on, but really at the beginning this is just getting on my nerves telling it not to make things I don't require right now. Since the update, I've had the graphics freeze up on me twice at the point in the game where I've just finished a research goal, and was going to pick a new tech to research. You can hear the mouseovers etc. as you move the mouse around, and click blindly on stuff, but the graphics display is just frozen. The only way I can get out is by hitting the Windows key to make the taskbar visible and closing the game that way, then coming back and loading the last
In my book, Vista is over. I'm typing this on a freshly formatted machine reverted to XP after suffering 6 months of hell in Vista. Its an arrogant user-hostile OS. M$ for some reason thinks that when you put Vista on your computer, they have the right to tell you how you should do things, and that somehow they bought controlling stock on YOUR machine. Does anyone know if you can force certain star names to be used? For example, if I wanted stars named "Scooby-Doo", "Boringland" and "BUUURRP" to appear for sure in each game, how do I do it? I've tried adding names to customplanets.xml, but it seems unless they are called for by raceconfig, they don't get used. If I add them to stars.txt, its still random if they appear or not. Any ideas?
I have to totally agree. This bites cosmic dust. I have downgraded. Whats the point if your population keeps dissapearing because they're unhappy, and you have to keep raising taxes just to break even? I had 100% tax and no spending and was still going in the hole fast & furious. That last update is a gamekiller. No more updates for me thanks.
Pesonally, I've always gotten fantastic help & feedback from Stardock. They stick with any problems I have until it's completely resolved. I wish ALL tech support people were as competant and friendly as Stardock.
