I played 2 games this weekend spent about 4 hours, have played the other Betas off an on. The game is shaping up nicely, I really enjoyed my game even though I was crushed in the first one. The city concept or upgrades and automatic placement is much better and no crazy looking cities. I really like that you cant build everywhere so the places where you can build cities gets more strategic value, and adding outposts as a way to get resources works very good. The limits to

Agreed, seems like we have a trend, oldies like me really like it. :) Maybe its because we have more patience with issues and dont ruin our experience by exploiting bugs or AI bahaviour.

Civ Accomplished a balance with the aggresive AI flag which you had to check to really activate the war unit production of the AI. It was a smart way to do it, create an option of aggresive AI that will reduce AI unit production for the people that play more for leisure.

Great write up, my thoughts exactly. I admire the patience a developer has today dealing with all the quick to judge customers and the fact that most of them have the same expectations on a super deep strategy game as a shallow game like modern warfare. With great scope and potential comes a lot of risk. One of the things I hate about other big game companies is the fact that they dont take any risks and limit scope to the bare minimum, and even with that approach they

As somebody who works with computer software, I myself have sometimes been on the edge to come down on the end customer, if I worked as crazily hard as you guys do to support the community its not strange that sometimes stress gets to you. Stardock is an excellent example of a great game company and you will always be supported by your fans, beacuse you respect your fans. Elemental is an excellent game, I sat this morning for 1.5 hour with my 3 year old daughter and

Same here, stayed up way to long. This game is the first game in a long long time where I feel the game mechanics are just right. It might be rough around the edges on the UI, but once you get a hang of it the UI is not all bad. A few patches and this should go from good to great in no time. The game is fun to play at the its current state and thats before the 0 day patch. An old Civ and MoM fan.

I dont like the range factor in the game its just to easy to travel far and have good ship sensors. I did modify the support to give less range and changed sensors the same way but I am worried it will handicap the AI. Is there any mods out there that does this right? I wish Stardock would create an option to have less range on both ships and ship sensors.

Awesome. Cant wait to try this out. The no tech trading was one of my most wanted features. I will say though that I would like to have a middle thing between free tech trading. I am all for options. 2 Options mentioned here in the forum that I think are good and relativly easy to implement 1. Instead of tech trading have bluepri

Stardocks know this but this is my experience with Strategy Games. The more clear things are the more you can realise what your choice of path leads to This also give you more gratification to chose a specific path. This is what stratgey games are about picking paths and seeing the effect. Choice need to be as clear as possible so players can pick and know what the effect is and then see the end result. Choice should be limited to a small number maybe 10-20

Limiting to Allies is an idea but after all the comments here I dont think its the best solution as it will limit trading to much. I still think blueprint trading is the best option. Blue Print trading allows for same unrestricted trading, but you cant resell the tech. The traders also have to invest to get the tech. I dont see this being to hard to implement. Put a flag on every tech that is blueprint TRUE/FALSE this will affect the cost with a percentage (Need a nice icon on the te

for 97, I agree, we need to be careful when changing the tech trading model. The tech trading is a very important part of a 4X game and we should not restrict it to much. We still need to make tech trading both a fun and strategical part of the game.. First step: Options to Disable research, research trade only with alliance, research trade only for researched techs. Second step. Lots of thinking. Some kind of tech transfer model w

Good post, we need to have some tech trading because it gives you a lot of strategies. I also think it would be good to have a no tech trading options. This to give theoption for players that not like the existing system or just dont want to have tech trading.br/> We need to make trading harder so it wont be a free for all. I am still on Strike.. Might not be able to hold out for much longer though.. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" b

Now we did it, I wont play a new game until something is done about the tech trading... Its sad but I am just costantly irritated about the tech trading and it puts a big damper on my otherwise awesome experience. I am on strike I am back to CIV 4 for a while.. Please address this Stardock, I am just dying to play this game. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" bord
