Morphium : I take it you are quoting what someone emailed to you rather than talking about your own warez pages. If not then I expect you will be leaving soon. You might want to watch out how you word things if you are quoting. Make it clear by putting "" round the text.

Just to make it clear, DWM did all the hard and time consuming work of tracking down the object with the bug and exporting it. All I did was look at the ini for that object and notice a class id I didn't recognise. My part of it took about 5 seconds, his took minutes. Oh and DaWebMassa is the MAN!!!!
Not sure why I didn't spot this immediately. The problem is that you are showing a msgbox before killing the timer. This basically halts that part of the script until it is responded to. In the meantime there is the potential for another ontimer event to be fired and get to the same point no matter what interval you use. You just need to move the msgbox bit after the killtimer line so that it kills the timer and then shows the message. Sub Object_OnTimer1 Objec
Oops. Just noticed something I missed first time round. You need: Object.KillTimer 1 not Object.KillTimer1 Of course you may have that and just mistyped into the messageboard.
Try setting your timer to greater than 5 milliseconds. It's probably queueing events. Set to 500 or even 1000 to make sure the killtimer really isn't firing.
There is an object which does it using WMI in the DesktopX objects section. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=3&SkinID=2597
What would you recommend to fix the problems you see? please be specific in what the problem is and what you think would solve it Over the past year I have gradually seen the messageboard decline into the current state. I will outline the main problems I perceive: 1. Too many things aired in public which should have been a private dialo
knatzz: You are absolutely right that it wasn't A_67 who started the mud slinging. It was directly started by a statement from two people about him going to DA and there being no moderators there. It wasn't a throw away comment, it was an 'In your face' shouting (all caps). This was an uncalled for response which made it descend to the depths it did. If those two statements had not been made I doubt it would have gone this route at all.
First let's just make a point. Download counts seldom taper off gradually. There are a certain amount of people out there who have whatever the app is you skinned (seemingly less so with DesktopX than WindowBlinds for instance). Those people are only likely to download once. The skin really only pulls major downloads in it's first few days while it is publicly visible in the new skins section or when it is in the first few pages on the desktopx section as that is where most are going to look
/me wipes a tear from his eye. Wow. This is so touching. I agree with all the above and would like to add that I have no idea who DaWebMassa is. I surveyed 10 people on the street and they had never heard of him. I think he's looking for attention. Don't be sucked in by his web of deceit. * Private note to said unknown person * Dork huh? I shall be awaiting you in IRC with an itchy foot. Consider this your warning. The kicking will be swift and out of
c242: The problem is that the way a lot of those worked the plugin info contained the details about what bitmap was used etc. (DXToys springs to mind) It just passed the images through to DX to show them AFAIK. So DX can't do anything but block the plugin and images too.
The zillion different files are probably the components of the theme. Sounds like you need to zip them up and rename to a dxtheme again. Or just rename the original zip to .dxtheme then double click it.
Melanie: They have no power. I would imagine any servers (newsgroups is included here) hosted on site are down. Wincustomize is hosted elsewhere and so is still up and running.
The thing is that they do have other skins available for it. It's not like they would have to make a new one in order to drop treetog's one. They could just switch the default to something else. Having said that the one based on treetog's work is the best looking in my opinion. I really hope they can work something out.
jebland: cs666857-166.austin.rr.com [66.68.57.166] is most probably the real IP address of the person who is infected by whatever virus tried to send itself to the email address that failed. They probably have you and other residents of this site in their addressbook or even in their IE cache. There are nasty viruses that can grab addresses from various places and email out with your address as the sender. The latest one that's hitting most people is the Sobig-E virus. Un
The concept is excellent. The way it all works is superb. I absolutely love it. I hope they manage to get the whole ripping thing sorted out because it would be a real shame if this doesn't get the kudos it so richly deserves because it uses a ripped skin.
paxx: Just out of interest how much memory was on the Mac and how much on the PC? You mentioned that the PC had a lot less than the mac I believe. I would think this would make quite a difference in Photoshop with a large image as it would be swapping to disk if the amount of memory was not great enough to hold the full image in. If that was the case the slower hard disk would also come into play wouldn't it? I really think you'd need to compare like for like in the memory and disk departmen
/me ponders sending in a screen shot of his Babya desktop. /me thinks Stardock might cancel his subscription to Object Desktop as a result.
Oh joy! 64 bit processors. Yay! Hmm, Where's all the 64 bit software?
Willabong: I have the permission of Nuvem (author of the Sputnik DX theme) to update and reupload his DX themes. I am planning to do this once DX 2 is released (although I may just update them and let him upload them again). If you want to send me the pic I can include it in that update.
OK. I just listened to some Bootsy Collins - Bootzilla and I just don't get it. Maybe I'm too young. Funk is for oldies. Of course, that must be it. /me goes back to listening to the Spongmonkeys and Aluminum Dirigible
/me thinks if there is much more splanking he may accidentally blackmail some more.
What's this madness that is pervading the messageboard? /me notices that one of the 'songs' MadIce posted refers to Pinocchio. /me laughs his head off /me leaves quickly with his fingers in his ears and a peg on his nose.
Speaking from experience Rich? Back to the topic at hand (kinda) I have a Geforce Ti4600 and a Radeon 8500 in separate PC's. The Geforce beats the 8500 hands down for games on a 1Ghz Duron against a 1.4Ghz Athlon XP. The 8500 beats the Geforce in WindowsFX but has a tendency to cause a BSOD for unknown and inexplicable reasons every once in a while. The ATI multimon support is less troublesome too. I let each do what it is best at and am relatively happy. If I
maybe skinplant could do an ATI one. /me runs away before Hippy can hit him
