Hey pixtudio: re: nvidia skin

Howabout a version of the skin WITHOUT the damned nVidia logo for those of us who love the skin yet hate nVidia?

ditto, Adam.

While this is a free board with free opinions and all and everyone is free to add their 2 cents, I don't give a damn about either of your opinions. Pixtudio is what I want a reply from, its very simple, a yes or no.

I'll remember to privately e-mail people who's opinion I actually do care about next time.

Thanks.

Doomgaze, treetog *is* Pixstudio, or at least one half of it as I understand it. I'd guess you can take his comment as a Pixstudio response.

Ok, then the treetog portion of the message goes away, the origional reply to skin still stands.

period.

Perhaps you don't understand, Doomgage, that contracturally the skin is not Pixstudio's to modify. Which is what Skinstudio, who also makes skins for companies under contract, was saying.

Pixstudio created the skin under contract for nVidia. So it's a nVidia skin and the authors were given permission to distribute it. But since nVidia paid for the skin and the design and thus it is their skin, the authors are not contractually free to modify it to remove the logo.

Well that certainly sucks.
More reason for me to hate nVidia.

Maybe you missed that I asked a simple question.
But hey, still a free country.

Doomgaze,

How about a version of Wincustomize without you.... that would be nice! It's people like you that make the hard work of dedicated skinners and upstanding community members like Pixtudio diminished. They are charitable skinners and for no other reason than kindness share their work just to have it trampled on by the likes of ungrateful members of this site like you.

I hope you suffer and eternity with Luna blue...

I'm not sure where you got "ungrateful" out of your... well behind... other than the fact that you felt the need somewhere in that thing you call a heart to reply to this. Maybe some counciling and a few beers will teach you to keep your nose where it dosen't belong before it gets chopped out.

The fact is, it was requested, (not knowing that nvidia owned all the rights to the skin which is well, lame) for an unbranded version of the skin. I have enough commercialism as it is rampant around me, and would rather my desktop not be another peice of garbage advertising for corporate America. And I still think the skin would be better without the branding for this sole fact alone.

Please drive through.

It IS simple silly...get it gone yourself!

Nothing wrong modifying stuff to suite your little'ol self.
Anyways, I think it's perfect the way it is.

Hey Doomgaze,
Let's Rock!!!

It's people like you who make this a very unpleasant community for those of us who really appreciate the hard work of the skinners. They freely share their hard work with us. There are many skins here that don't have the Nvidia label on them. It sounds to me like jealousy, and an attempt to put down the artistic work of the skinners. This only makes the skinners and admins feel negative responses from any comments and they jump on those who have constructive views. Using vile words like "I won't repeat them" shows a total disrepect for the skinners who freely share their work. It is people like you who can ruin a community. This idea of positive community involvement doesn't stop here. Communities are part of the makings of the world. So negativity like yours, hurts everyone. Have you ever heard the saying,"If you don't have something nice to say, it is sometimes better not to say anything", rather than saying something to hurt others? Or don't you care about anyones feelings but your own? Maybe you prefer that skinners stop making skins. Well, I was driven to that because of people like you. And, I had over 5,000 downloads on my skins. I just didn't feel it was necessary for me to spend 50 hours creating a skin "freely" for hurtful comments such as yours. Think about what you are saying to these people who spend these hours freely and get ripped apart by people like you. Maybe you should spend your time learning to create a skin yourself. Maybe it is better for the community to keep your jealous, negative comments to yourself and allow the skinners and those of us who appreciate their hard work to benefit. Of course, you won't pursue either of these ideas, and it is people like you that can bring a entire community down. It is sad, and so are you. That is my two cents. >

And to the creators of the nvidia skin, thank you for freely sharing the skin, it is very nice.

Maybe, all the skins here should have a price to them. Would that make you happier Doomgaze?

NVIDIA (and I use all caps because nobody's ever told me the proper way to address them) asked for the button linking to their website. And they paid for it. This is their current visual style/skin offering for people that are interested.

You dislike the nvidia web link/gfx and have issues with it, yet still want the rest? Use your Object Desktop or SkinStudio registrations and fix things to your liking.

Or, and this is a radical thought, don't use their skin. Or deal with their logo, this isn't worth throwing disease-laden animals into a beseiged city because your God said it was the only thing to do.

Doomgaze, you got simple answers, you just didn't understand them (the context of the responses in that it *is* a nVidia skin and they own the design since they paid for it). Although if you read the description portion of the skin as posted at least some of that should have been clear to you. And you also didn't know who was responding to you before you barked back at them.

Some companies do not allow any free distribution of their skins and only distribute it with their products. In this case nVidia allowed free distribution. Companies like nVidia also provide Pixstudio with an income. (How lame is that?)

Simply, if you don't like the skin, don't use it or modify it for your own use.

Time to nip this all in the bud.

Call it an 'official' stance.

nVidia [pretty sure that's the way, Nakor] is a company which deserves somewhat more than the content of this thread. As I recall, they consulted with and were consulted by Stardock in the development of the Detonator drivers so WindowBlinds could benefit, and, they are one of the companies who have contracted Pixtudio.com to do graphic work for them and are therefore indirectly financially supporting this 'community' which holds treetog and Alexandrie, the principals of Pixtudio.com not only as members, but genuinely VALUED members and Wizops of Wincustomize.com.

OK, so that was long-winded and screaming for punctuation but consider it a challenge for breath-control...

People such as Adam [Skinstudio] and Renato [treetog] are naturally well aware of this, hence their response.

As for the rest of this thread...note clearly that any variation of these graphics would need the endorsement [consent] of nVidia prior to public distribution....and I would expect that consent would NOT be forthcoming.

Doomgaze...yes, you have a right to an 'opinion'...that you 'hate nVidia'....but that's as far as it goes.  The rights to what is, or is not done with nVidia's property is theirs alone and must be respected.

Hmmm... as much as I dislike nVidia and commercialism, I gotta agree with Jafo (even though I HATE TO)... His reply sums it up.

Soooo Doomgaze, as was said, yank the offending matter from a personal copy should you so desire. Sorry man.

TechCat : You should actually read threads You are replying to. Your question is already answered, if You read carefully.
And if I were nVidia I would be a 'little' emberassed if Pixtudio would do a free ATI skin directly following this one (and they sure wouldn't get any assignment again in the near future). Something to think about...

To Pixtudio and nVidia - thank you for sharing this nice piece of work with us. I think i can speak for the vast majority of this community and say we are very grateful and i certainly appreciate the huge amount of work that must have gone into this skin. A big thanks to "treetog" at pixtudio for yet another great skin. You boys rock. I just thought i would put my ten cents worth in because when looking at some of the earlier comments it is pretty obvious that words of praise and thanks are not given as often as maybe they should and without people like you in this community would be a poorer place. Thanks again.

While I own an nVidia card, my wife bought it for me so I had no choice. What some of us take issue with is that nVidia drivers for the last couple years leave a lot to be desired. There are other issues but let's leave it at that.

Yes, an ATI skin would be excellent for those who own them and those who wished we owned them!

Either way, Renato is one of the best skinners in existance and I have yet to see a skin he did that I didn't gaze upon in awe. He has always been someone I have looked up to.

And PJ... if I were you I wouldn't worry about Mark hitting you, I'd worry more about him getting his love beads around your neck.

Speaking from experience Rich?

Back to the topic at hand (kinda)
I have a Geforce Ti4600 and a Radeon 8500 in separate PC's.

The Geforce beats the 8500 hands down for games on a 1Ghz Duron against a 1.4Ghz Athlon XP. The 8500 beats the Geforce in WindowsFX but has a tendency to cause a BSOD for unknown and inexplicable reasons every once in a while. The ATI multimon support is less troublesome too.

I let each do what it is best at and am relatively happy. If I didn't have two PC's I might have more animosity towards nVidia though.

And yes I like the nVidia skin and the nVidia logo doesn't bother me.

Doomgaze, just use SkinStudio to remove the logos for your own PC. I myself made an Object Dock background & 2 menu skins that use the nvidia color scheme. Unfortunately as Treetog told me, he could not give me permission to post it since Pixtudio does not own the rights to the skin, nVidia does. So I use the skins myself but cannot share them and no one can modify them or use their graphics and post it here or any where without nVidia's permission. Hope that helps.
