Isn't it a matter of available food? I don't think it's a bug - it's based on game factors.

Backpack Woes in WOM Support Elemental Forums

I noticed the Scout Backpack provides a defense bonus of 1, while the Messengers Pack provides a sight bonus of 1. I thought this was strange, and considering the games glitchiness, I kind of figured this was a mistake. Doesn't it make more sense that a Scouts Pack would increase Sight, while a Messengers Pack would increase speed? I figure either you guys either made a mistake or made some last minute adjustments.
