@ ZehDon I only wanted to clarify that wow is not a turnaround game, it was successful right from the start up till now. I don´t compare it to demigod. Its just a shining example of good product developement and management. Did the Dark Knight recoup its costs and made investors some money? If yes its not a failu

Comparing a title to the best around ensures the maximum amount of competition and over time will increase the quality of titles. However, labeling all titles that don't exceed the record-breaking, industry changing phenomenons' level of success as failures is both mornic and unrealistic and does a dis-service to a

It didn't work at release, however neither did most MMO's at launch - you see, thats one of the benefits of this industry. It is different, and taking advantage of the strengths of it can turn a horrible mess (Demigod at launch) into a great piece of software (Demigod now) at no additi

If you want performance you go client/server no way around it. Cause with p2p you never know what hardware and what services the players are using and one running bittorrent download on some retard´s machine ruins the game for everyone involved while it would only screw up the game for the retard in the client/ser

Well Demigod practically killed itself because of a few key mistakes: - Crappy Netcode. If more than half of the games played are lagfests people will give up on the game cause nothing is more frustrating than playing a slideshow. Why no server client model? I will never understand why devs still use p2p. - Price. People won´t pay 50$ for a game with no singleplayer and just a few simple maps and a handful of demigods. I mean look at maps in your favorite shooter release
Well the game wouldn´t be bad if not for three things: 1. Peer to peer instead of dedicated servers. Lag is so yesteryear i don´t understand how a company in 2009 thinks it can get away with this laggy mess of p2p netcode for a multiplayer only game. 2. Price. Lets be honest, a few maps and 8 demigods aren´t worth 40 bucks. This game should have been a 20$ title. I mean no single player, crappy netcode and small maps in multiplayer (in comparison to an FPS),
Hmm the game is already heavily itembased instead of skillbased so im not sure giving more items to the team controlling the lanes would be a good idea. I mean one of my strats with certain demigods is to ignore all but the money upgrades and get a mageslayer early. That item is so imba i can then own the entire team all by myself while getting total map control. Creeps dropping potions in such a situation would make me godlike and unkillable.
Oh thanks for explaining.
Call me noob but what is the fast rook style?
Every demigod can take on a tower if left alone i don´t see a problem here. And why isn´t one of your teammates harassing regulus? A Regulus on the enemy team is a free lane in my eyes since he sucks at holding flags. And towers aren´t supposed to hold the enemy off just to slow him down to give you time to react. By lvl 5-7 towers go down anyway so whats the big deal.
Resyncing can be done its just a lot of work. First pause the game then do a majority poll on all gamestate variables to filter out which client messed up then resync it with the other players. Ongoing changes like a half executed attack are simply reset and everything put back into the solid state position and the game continues from there on. Basically it would seem like a hiccup and maybe a tower would respawn or a unit position reset/warp. But it would be way better then ending the game.<
I bet desyncs are mostly caused on purpose by cheating. You simply get certain software that lets you monitor the state of your machine and go through the demigod process by searching certain numbers you know like your current health. Once figured out where in the ram its stored you write a small application that overwrites it with a different number and bam desync. Its a nice way of screwing you out of a victory. And the best thing is nearly any noob programmer can do it. Not saying its done
Doubles should be no problem especially Regulus. Just stack a bit of armor and health erarly on and watch that you never go low on health. Early Regulus sucks at lane control so you should just focus on controlling the map and kiting/harassing the snipescout around with one player then outteching them. I mean if they can´t snipe you what are they gonna do? Bleed on you? Stacking snipers is a one trick pony that sucks against competent players.
