I've been playing as the TEC Enclave and experiencing issues ordering my ships to hold position, no idea if this problems exists for other factions/ships, as this is all I have played thus far. The first problem is with Sova Carriers. Ordering them to hold position cause their strike craft to idle and do absolutely nothing in battles, they don't automatically engage anything unless the ships are set to engage anywhere... But having a Sova Carrier set to engage anywhere causes it

Things I hope are in SoaSE2: - More skills/levels so you can really customize your capital ships/build them a certain way. - Veteran ranks (maybe even skills) for frigates/cruisers, make the ships that last a long time more powerful/worth protecting. - More robust pirate faction that actually does stuff and gets stronger throughout the game. - Wider variety of planets, planetary specializations, and planetary bonuses. - More artifacts and other bonuses

I want Sins 2 more than any other game. Rebellion is my most played game on Steam by far. I hope they make the RPG elements a little deeper on capital ships and titans. More levels/more skills to choose from, maybe even some light customization like choosing different armaments and such. I also hope the scale is a little smaller for ships and such and larger for planets. I liked the scale from that one Star Wars mod, Sins of a Galactic Empire. The ships

My friend doesn't currently have Sins installed so we can't test anything; is it possible for him to play with me if he doesn't own Forbidden Worlds, but I do? I asked him to download and play with me, but I don't want to have him download the game only to not be able to. Thanks
There is a range setting in the tactics/fleet management interface that I think controls what you want. There are three engagement ranges "Gravity Well" (default) "Local Area" (will move around a bit to attack nearby enemies) and I third one I don't remember the name of but it prevents your ships from moving but they will still attack anything in range. I think if you set your fleet to the third option you'll get what you want.
I pretty much always play TEC Loyalists because I very much enjoy long games and defense. I don't play competitively because of this, usually just computer games with friends... Anyways, defenses are clearly pretty important to TEC Loyalist and I want to keep my fleets among them... But my options are turn attack off so they sit there and do nothing, but stay still; or turn attack on and let them automatically drive out away from defenses and probably die in the process. &nb
