Playing with a trackball in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

So I don't play many PC games, but I heard about Stardock and bought Sins of a Solar Empire a while back and enjoyed it thoroughly. I've been thinking about buying GalCiv2. However, a laptop is now my primary computer, so I was wondering: do you think it's possible to play GalCiv2 with a trackball mouse instead of a regular one? And don't say "everything"... I'm a new player (just got the game yesterday) and I've found it difficult planning ahead for things.
