My best advice would be for those of you are experiencing minidump problems to download the 17x.xx Nvidia drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com whether you have a desktop or laptop. You can find 17x.xx in the forums. I personally run 171.16 and have seen performance and stability improvements in everything. Sins will get mad at me like Crysis does if I alt-tab out of the game (sound distortion, popping, and FPS drop), but I've isolated that problem to an AC'97 Sigmatel driver that unfortunately ha
There are as few as 20 people online at certain times of day. It makes me wonder how much of a future this game has. It wouldn't surprise me if the only way to get a game will be to organize it in the forums in advance come one or two years time.I think it's mostly because this kind of slow paced strategy game attracts a more mature audience who are busy with things like work, uni and family and don't have time to live online and zerg rush all day like the kiddies.
Hey, it could be
Their strongest ship is the colony cap. It cannot stand against 3 pirate cruisers.
If you were to wake up and realize the Progenitor shoots out its sides mainly, then maybe you'd consider manually ordering it to park itself between pirate ships so that it can fire on multiple enemies at the same time... That would be the smart thing to do, but we all know how often people do the smart thing... A Progenitor has no trouble handling low level pirate raids, but needs a little help on
innociv AI should say "Hey it looks like the enemy is heading to your homeworld! Perhaps Vasari don't eat. What if they soaked up UV rays like plants? What if their bodies processed some sort of chemical or compound in the air for nourishment? What if their mouth is somewhere other than on their face? I know it's easy to stick some pointy ears, fur, or markings on what used to be a person and then call it an alien, but not all aliens have to be human-like.
Hollow Man Thanks - looks like a tidy solution. Regardless of whether the developers need to adhere to this for Microsoft's happiness, I can't stand having game data files on my Windows drive. It's too bad there's not a GUI to easily manage all the links. Then I would feel comfortable about redirecting all of my games that love to save stuff on the C partition.-HM
That would be nice, but I was kind of having fun giving Windows actual important commands through a command

Yes, you can do this. I have Sins running off an external 500 GB IEEE 1394 (firewire) drive. I have noticed no performance hit. However, if you use USB you might notice a small performance hit because of the differences between USB and IEEE 1394 (firewire). My laptop's primary Windows drive isn't big enough to accommodate all my games so everything is stored on that external drive unless it's essential to work and productivity.

For some reason, the AI likes to pick on the "top dog" of the map. That's probably you. It would be nice if the AI would sometimes fear the top player on the map, but my experiences haven't shown this at all. What could have happened is that you probably ignored the missions the AI was giving you and they subsequently dumped the alliance. What's worse is during that period of dwindling favorability your AI partner probably "magically" allied itself with your enemies without doing a single missio

Mario Kart is not a real game. The karts are all different looking, sometimes they blend into the distance, and some of them also perform differently than others. It's also fatally flawed because those question boxes produce unpredictable power ups that make the game unfair for one player or another. The developers need to nerf green turtle shell spam, get rid of that cheap speed boost tactic, and give everyone equal access to the lightning bolt. They also absolutely, positively, life-depending

I just about spit my drink out when I read that. You may think it's the best and that's totally alright, but I assure you that not everyone feels that way. Once I played Rise of Nations I turned my back on Blizzard and never played another one of their shallow RTS games again. SC helped establish the genre along with Command and Conquer plus Age of Empir

Embargo rush? What exactly were you doing with your capital ship and where were your defensive structures/ships? Sovas are poorly armed and not very tough. I've never been embargo rushed, but I've done it to an opponent. It didn't last long because one of them countered with a Radiance and in another game the person countered with the Vasari version of the Marza (I forget its name). If you're off screwing around and fail to keep an eye on your assets, then you deserve to be embargo rushed.
Since I got this game 2 weeks ago I've lost sleep every single night.
Yes, me too. I keep playing this game every night and the battles keep getting bigger and bigger. Half the time I play on maps of my own design now too to mix things up. Last time I played a game that was this consistent in keeping me up it was Rise of Nations.
The OP looks like a strange sort of free-form poetry.
That might be true. I thought it looked like it might have been typed from some sort of mobile device though. The wrap attribute has been depreciated in the latest HTML/XHTML standards and this looks like someone's browser submitted things in hard wrapping style instead of soft. I had this come up a couple of times so now I routinely violate the standards when appropriate since we don't live in a perfect world.[/s

Starcraft 2 will hopefully get rid of the competitive elite that are constantly coming up with new ways to abuse Sins, unbalance things, and ruin multiplayer. I look forward to its release despite the fact that I would never buy it. The first Starcraft and Brood War were terrible games with no strategy other than rushing or massing dozens upon dozens of the same unit. Starcraft 2 is more of the same. People complain about LRM spam here...well, the latest screenshots show the same kind of spam wi

Don't you love how the PC gaming market is being more and more abused by retailers? No wonder there's problems with the PC gaming market--stores are a large part of the problem. At least you could actually find the PC gaming section in the games-only stores. They normally stick it in the back dark corner. Walmart, Staples, Target, etc. do a nice job with placement though. I would advise you to order it online for shipping.

Actually, the real way to make sure an LRM never does any irreparable damage to your fleet again is to send a single Halcyon capital ship at them. You can send multiple Halcyons if you want too as well as drone hosts. Everyone reading this is now about to type a response slamming this approach for it being naive and outright stupid. If you sent a Halcyon or drone host to do a head on fight with an LRM blob then I would completely agree. However, if you issue a circular move order to the

Deselance, Based off the number of grammatical and spelling errors in your post I can already tell that this game is not for you. You should go back to playing Halo or Counter Strike. Otherwise, you should sit down for several hours and give this game a real chance. Yeah, there are things we'd all like to see added in, but this is what we have right now. Good thing it's a much more completed product than half of the junk that's been released in the past 6 months.

Xtanto, are your ships in a fleet or are they phase jumping together (grouped)? If either situation exists I'm pretty sure the ships will reform a formation before making their jump and that causes them to all line up where you described.

Space ponies are carnivores so it's unlikely those space monkeys will last long. :) If you want a truly balanced game, then every ship will need to spew paintballs, care bears, and war-kittens. Conquest will be won by the empire that maxes out their credit limit first with war-kittens in order to save the economy from almost inevitable doom from mortgage spam, all whilst avoiding upsetting enemies by sharing care bears and shooting paintballs because we only want to simulate real combat.
