I read that earlier today. I like the idea of powerful starbases to help defend planets. My concern is about them being balanced with what currently exists in the game. It might become extremely tedious in shorter or medium length games when every single planet has its own starbase. However, having a single super-capital ship would make a great counter I think. Too bad that hasn't been announced. Also, I personally do play campaigns/scenarios only AFTER I've gotten bored with skirmish/r
That screams for an "bear"-mod with rainbow-colored ships shooting heart-lasers
Perhaps there should be a rare single randomly-appearing unique planet created somewhere called "Planet of the bears". The neutral forces could be bears shooting rainbows out their eyes and hearts from their bellies. :P Or, a "space bears" resource like the "space ponies" one. ;)
So, no one thinks this could be so big it would kill off Al Gore?
How about we add a global warming heat-gun to the Marza? We can also replace its missiles with pythons. Yes, a ship that heats up planets and shoots pythons, brilliant! According to the USGS, the combination of pythons and global warming will destroy all civilization in the next 50 years. The death star is now obsolete. /sarcasm Actually, global cooling started 2 years ago.

Since Spaceballs was one of the best movies ever made, this must be a complement. The new crap movie studios peddle these days just cannot compete with a classic like Spaceballs. Too bad we don't have flying Winnebagos in Sins. :P And FPS gamers, on average, are more annoying since they encompass more people and age groups than RTS games. I play FPS games in addition to a bunch of other genres. You find more FPS players complaining about everything that killed or penalized them than in

I'm not a transformers fan so who did the voice has no impact on what I think. Listening to the Vasari gets as annoying as listening to the Chinese or MEC forces in Battlefield 2. Only difference is that you can understand the Vasari. It could be worse though...the voices could just be people breathing and burping into microphones like the Zerg in Starcraft. :p Again though, this is a design decision. I think there should be a new voice over added to the robotics cruisers. I want to hea
Does it supposed to be like that or is it a mistake ?
Ask not why the cd doesn't need to be in the drive - ask why the cd for other games must be in the drive to play them. Not having to apply a no-cd patch is a welcome change for me. As a laptop gamer, lugging around 40+ cd's for various games is a pain in the ass, which is why no-cd patches are such great things for me. It's also good for companies in the long-term since they won't have to deal with fixing stolen cd-keys

I know this was a design decision, but I tend to agree with their voices being annoying enough to make me not want to play that race. I treated the Protoss and Yuri factions in the past the same way for having annoying voices. I'm sure there's more examples, but I can't think of them right now.

Warcraft, Dune, C&C, and so on all copied off each other. To say that Sins copied off Warcraft is to fault the underlying mechanics that make RTS games successful. If Sins were closer to Warcraft 3 in terms of gameplay, organization, and art direction I'd probably not be playing it. I'm one of those people who has never liked Blizzard's RTS games. I didn't really like Dawn of War either, but it seems to be more solid than the Blizzard games that look very similar. I'm more of an Age of Empires,

174.74 is definitely an improvement. I never had stability problems in Sins, but I had a ton of distortion, hitching, and half-crashes in Crysis under 171.16 and older. Overall, 174.74 seems to provide a slight performance boost in games for me, including Sins.

That's all based on what I consider personal priorities and all the other things that require my cash. Buying gas, food shopping, paying bills/debt, paying utilities, and taking care of exot

Yes. You can lock teams or else set all AI opponents to hard. When the AI is on a level playing field with you it tends to not gang up on you. However, getting ganged up on is a persistent issue with this game, unfortunately. If setting opponents to hard doesn't work, then you'll just have to try harder to do missions or establish a small raiding fleet to get in, do the mission, and get out in time.

I've never heard of 2404.org so I visited their site. It does appear to be just another lackluster clan site but this one rates video games. The moment I saw that they rated UT3 10/10 I immediately closed the window and never intend to go back. These people are rating strictly on how "competitive" a game is it seems. Therefore I have no interest in knowing what they say.
Pretty sure that if you pick Custom Map, there is a slider for each planet group that determines the average strength/number of neuts. Try setting it all the way down and see what happens?
Yes. This is good advice. you'll find this in in-game map designer.
No. I consider each planet its own individual battle map.
Why is a planet its own map? Plants are equivalent to RoN's cities. What's the difference? Planets have research stations, resource extractors, factories, and defenses. Cities have libraries, mines/camps, factories/barracks, and towers. The only real difference between them is that Sins makes you use phase lanes and RoN lets you approach any way you want from any direction. I'm not saying either game is better than

Rise of Nations...by far the best strategy game I've EVER played. Sins comes relatively close compared to other RTS games, but RoN is still the best in my eyes. It's in a league of its own and I still play it at least monthly. Sadly, Rise of Legends was a terrible follow up (not sequel) that over-emphasized high-speed gameplay and a Warcraft 3-like setup. What I think made RoN so great is that everything was customizable (options for everything under the sun basically), there were many factions,

Carbon016 is right. There is a toggle check box in the effects menu screen I think (it might be with the rest of the graphics options though). This will prevent the opening cinematic from appearing. Alternatively, you can edit your settings files in the game's Windows profile application data directory. There you can even disable all intro videos so that they just get replaced with static logos. It's as simple as replacing some TRUE entries with FALSE. You should only do this if you have experi
Hollow Man I personally think if they just wait it out a bit things will return to a state of normalcy. The game is getting such high praise now that the forums are probably seeing an unusually high amount of traffic as people buy, buy, buy. I suspect in another month or two that the interest will naturally wane as people move to other games, and then only the people who are pretty hardcore will remain. Again.Of course if the game just continues to burn hot, then it could be a

There if you posted a similar comment about their game they'd ban your CD key from the forum and the lead dev himself would call you an idiot. MMojo, if you're getting MSXML errors and a whole lot of trouble when you go to install the game that signals one of the following conditions exists: 1) Your computer has been infected with malware deep in the core of the OS. Irreparable damage may have been done. You should immediately run a spyware and virus scan on your system. MSXML errors are normally due to something changing the default behavior of Windows or terrible programming. The MSXML errors are not reproducible on other ma
