I stand corrected, but only on ONE issue. Bichur did give me good advice. However, the rest of you are WRONG. I just uninstalled WB and everything SD and guess what, my boot up time is now back to less than 5 minutes again. So let's see, my boot up time prior to installing WB/SD = less than 5 minutes. Boot up time after installing WB/SD = 10 + minutes. Boot up time after uninstalling WB/SD = less than 5 minutes. So that can mean only one thing, WB/SD was causing my increased boot time. I guess n

perhaps you need a new laptop....you should able to boot up within 1-2 minutes tops.... My needing a new laptop is NOT the issue. As I said in my original post, it took LESS THAN five minutes to boot up. I apologize for not sitting here with a ****ing stopwatch. I figured saying "less than five minutes" was a sufficient statement. Again, as I've stated previously, as soon as I installed WB my boot up time increas

It sucks up so many resources that it now takes over 10 minutes to boot up That's not caused by WindowBlinds. Well, my system took less than five minutes to boot up just before I installed WB, then I installed it. The next time I booted up, it took over 10 minutes, and I had installed nothing else. To me, that's case closed. What would be your exp

I like WindowBlinds for my desktop. However, I loaded it onto my laptop.... BIG, HUMONGOUS, MASSIVE mistake. It sucks up so many resources that it now takes over 10 minutes to boot up. How do I get it off of my system so no remnants of anything Stardock is left? It does not appear in my Add/Remove programs list.

I'm about ready to give up. Nothing but problems. No offense to anyone, but this has got to be the most inactive forum I've ever seen. I've had this thread going for over 10 days with only one response. The online manual is so minimal it may as well not even exist. Nowhere on the site does it give any warnings about how long making a skin will take. I can make a full fledged web site in less than 12 hours, but making a skin takes 10 times that. I've seen some beautiful work by several artists, a

I'm new to this whole thing (I've done multiple web sites but I'm new to this whole skinning deal) and am looking for some good tutorials on making widgets, gadgets (still not clear on the difference), skins, etc. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

I finished working on my first skin, tested it and everything seemed okay. As a final test, I applied it to my computer but I ended up with the following problems: * When I have a program open, the top bar is transparent, even though I'd set an image for it. * There are no close, minimize or maximize buttons where they should be on the top bar. Even if it was transparent, I'd figure the buttons should be there. Everything looks fine in Preview mode, but reality is a di

As you know, I'm a newbie, so this may have been a mistake. If I edit an image file, I save it as filename2.bmp so I can see which is the original and which is the one I created in case I messed something up really badly. I then import the filename2.bmp to replace filename.bmp in the preview (but not the folder). I just realized this may double my skin's file size when I save the final copy which will be posted online. Is this an issue, where Skin Studio saves all of the files in the folder and

I've been creating my first skin and it seems like it's taking forever. That was partially due to the fact that I first tried creating it in USF but kept getting errors. Anyway, I've been working on it for about 40 minutes in the am and 40 minutes in the pm (as I commute on the train) and I'm nearly done. However, I am leaving some things undone so I can get the main skin done, then add "upgrades" later. What I'm wondering is how many hours it typically takes someone to create a skin?

Okay, now it's working, which is weird because I didn't think I changed anything from what I was doing the other day... My next problem is that I still have a pink border around my image. I know that's due to antialiasing and I need to turn it off, but for the life of me I can't figure out where in Photoshop to do that. I've done web design for years so I've never had to deal with setting antialiasing. Just save the image as a jpg or gif and off I go. Where in PShop do I set that? I've also trie

but you can take your WB skin and bundle it with your DTX objects/widgets and wall and make a suite. But can I do that with a USF skin?

Actually I thought I had it figured it out, but it's still not working and it brings up another issue. When I opened the skin in SS and clicked analyze, I got a bunch of errors related to Firefox. They all start out with "Warning The section Firefox.Browser is not supported (or has been removed from the specification) and should be deleted from the skin to improve the performance". I went into the code and removed all instances relating to Firefox then tried testing it again. However, I still ge

Being a newbie, I may have gone about this whole process wrong. I created a skin in Skin Studio but couldn't figure out how to add wallpaper. I guess if I want to have a wallpaper along with the skin, I have to create that in Desktop X, is that right? If that's true, how can I import my skin to Desktop X?

When I try to test my skin, the status bar goes all the way, then I get an error message that says "Can't test to". How do I test my skin?
