Hi Bechiir, Guanathor's post is not relevant (albeit he/she was trying to help.) The issues were as a direct consequence of the 1.4 update and lost functionality which appears to have been restored. I (for one,) wasn't even subscribed to the 1.5 opt-in so any changes introduced in that update&n

Hi pshaw, As there were no patch notes for the last update (December 4, 2015,) just a quick post for closure in case anyone else with the same problem (above) is subscribed to the thread. Whatever was changed yesterday has rectified all of the major game issues and all of the gfx display issues. No more invisible ships flying around. hmmm... sorry for yet another post, but on reflection, didn't this exact same issue happen for some people about 9 or 10 years ago with a GalCiv II update? I seem to recall missing ship and planet icons being an issue before. let me search the forum archives quickly..... OK, here is a similar post (DirectX 9.0C) from June 2006 https://forums.stardock.com/118200/page/1/ Kind

Hi pshaw, Ticket number is #CEC-330-50794 I included the save files for the ships (as they were generated0 the save game (turn 2) and my DxDiag files. As you seem to be having issues identifying the source, I thought it may be prudent to mention that I have the ship designers toolbox installed as a DLC but that these issues appeared before I installed it (did the entire test/reinstall cycle recommended) so it is unlikely that this is the cause. Regards as

I will submit a ticket but this error will not show up in a saved game file as the program is assigning the graphics correctly (see proof of conjecture below.) To save some time, I looked into it myself a little. The issue is with the way the *.png files are saved. The icons are saved as they are generated to Documents/Games/Gal Civ 3/Designs (for ships) folder. The image is not being saved correctly. To test this; I replaced the image of a ship I built wi

GalCiv II, esp after DA is just so far advanced from the original GalCiv, that any comparison would be 'comparatively' maningless. It would be like comparing Apples, with Oranges, to 'coin a phrase'. Sure, GalCiv II is still evolving, and there are many enhancements and improvements still to come but GalCiv vs GalCivII? Well, once you play GalCivII you could never go back to the original. Perhaps better expressed as... On a scale of 1 to [n] where [n]=any

It is always difficult to keep personal prejudice out of any intelligent discussion. After all, if we didn't think that our opinion was the right one... well, it wouldn't be our opinion, we should have a different one. I also am siding with the pro-Blizzard posters. The company is singulary the best there is in terms of polished gameplay and performance. After all, 8 million subscribers paying $9.99 p/month to play World of Warcraft is astonishing. That could never have been a

Some very nice posts. I tend to agree with the 'pro posts' that 3D games are entirely plausible and acheivable. The majority of the ideas and views offered by those that think it impractical seem fixed on a 'cubic' representation of the Galciv Universe. (That is to say, several layers of 2D to simulate a 3D version of todays interface.) This would not seem logical for a 3D representation. Rather than having to micro-manage every possible move/location, you cou

hmmm... there isn't an edit function? I forgot some things: 9) Intelligence and Ship Building Even if not in sensor range, you can always examine ships in orbit around distant planets. This makes it too easy to build ships to counter your opponent. Their ships out of sensor range (in space) aren't visible, but you can get all the info you need on their ship builds from their orbiting planets 1/2 a Galaxy away. These need to be made invisible if not in

After playing DA quite a lot recently... yes, I know Medieval2 TW has pretty gfx and CoH has multiplayer... but the AI in this game is just awesome. Anyway... I'm sure some of these will have been suggested before, but they don't seem to have been attended to so here is my list of things that imo would improve gameplay. 1) Trade Lanes. It is too much of a micro-management nightmare to have to protect vital trade lanes. An option to assign warships (within the logis

The details on 1.2 and possible inclusions for 1.3 are on the Home page of this site. Comments on multiplayer issues can be found in many posts. You can already play multi-player, but the mechanics for doing this are not user friendly. Brad (frogboy) is probably weighing up what to concentrate on for 1.3 and I would imagine that if multi-player isn't top of the agenda, the team will at least make a simple interface to launch a multi-player game as opposed to the cumbersome method yo

Hi Mystic, I imagine that a lot of your suggestions might already be possible once the multiplayer function is introduced. I guess we will have to wait and see what's available after 1.2 I'm not sure about being able to 'control' other races bit though. Part of this games immersive appeal to me, and I'm sure many, many others, is that the 'AI' actually draws you into the game. The unpredictability, and, come to think of it, predictability of a race, once you "get

As 1.2 is almost upon us, (and respect guys, fantastic support for the game) it's extermely unlikely that any more features/changes will be made before 1.3 I don't like the idea of a galactic encyclopedia for 1.3 It sounds like something that would be nice to work on, but not used enough in practical terms to make the investment in it worthwhile. I love the suggestion about the random 'AI traits option' so that the opponents weren't so predictable in global terms. <br/

First of all, unbelievable improvement from GC1, excellent work. Thouroughly enjoying it. Could never go back. Concerning the collapse of a Major Power. This is the only real game mechanic that I don't really like is the "give away an empire" thing. Not because it's not plausable, but because it's too game-breaking in terms of the game that you are actually playing at the time. From struggling for over 10 hours (total play time) to establish a
