Cannot log into stardock for game updates in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

Whenever I launch Stardock to try and check for updates on GalCiv 2, for the last 2 days going on 3, it gives me an error 1001 unable to connect message. On the lower right corner of the Stardock panel it reads Login Failed and Registration Info. I can log in here, and post, but if I go to the main Stardock page even it errors out. Any idea what's up?

For me, the evil pirates came after the pirates from the prison break. The pirates from the prison went down pretty easily, but then the second group spawned out of nowhere. They had 3 or 4 battleships, and around 20 smaller crafts, took out my whole fleet, several starbases of mine and the CPU opponents, every transport that got near them, and then started taking out planets. I couldn't take any of them down, and could not build up a fleet fast eno
