I'd put a mfg capital on a large planet, one where I can have plenty of mfg capacity, plus room for achievements, trade goods, etc. Not alot of room for that on your homeworld.

I wish for tactical combat. We've got a great combat viewer, great animations, ability to make cool looking ships, we just can't control anything at a tactical level Otherwise, the game is fantastic.
Thanks for the link, that helps alot. But doesn't answer all my questions For example, going back the the race medal - terran, alterian, custom, etc. How do you get those? Can you get all of them or does that indicate the race you play the most, or have the highest score with or what? Or what's "wounded in action" or "race victories" amon
Is there somewhere that lists the different medals available and how to attain them? For example, I've seen custom medals and have played a couple of custom games but don't have a medal. Just curious.
Duh, you do know that you can control the number of planets in the initial game setup, don't you? I think in the early builds the number of planets was far too low when you selected "abundant" - now it looks to be right. Again, want fewer planets, then select "rare" or "occasional".
Well, it's being done. You said this wasn't the beta, so don't comment on anything unless you have the latest version. Please read again, I said this issue isn't related to the beta. I am playing the beta - my point is that I've seen this behavior on all builds, not just the beta. So don'
This isn't related to the beta - just something I've noticed over several games as I've gotten a high enough espionage rating to see exactly what the AI is doing. FYI, my comments are also address to the "intelligent" AI. First off, the AI is great at getting started, so much that I've started mimicking it's spend patterns early one. I was wondering how it was always doing so much better than me early on, then I figured out what it was doi
I reported the same thing in the bug thread. I've seen it on every AI planet I've captured early on. Did'n't happen in earlier versions, this is using the latest beta.
Playing Beta 3, the alien AI's are bit wonky when developing planets. When I take a planet over early in development, it often has 3 or 5 starports on it, and the AI is trying to convert them to some other building. I've seen this for about every world I've taken over, major or minor race.
I thought at first it might be a bonus to your research but there's a research bonus for that. It says it can give access to new and different technologies. Anyone know what it does. And I wish this forum has a search function.
Looks like you've tweaked the political party benefits, but the description didn't change. The Populist Party now gets +10 morale and +10 diplomacy, but the prose description still says they get 20 of each. Same for the War party. Looks like they got a needed boost with some additional abilities but the description still has the old ones.
Grifman I cant see those, I hate this forum in that way. Do you have a link. Here you go: http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e335/Grifman/2dd92109.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e335/Grifman/Capture4-4-2006-8.jpg

I just played a game using the latest beta, and I did NOT disable minor races, but I never ran across any in a large universe, nor did I see any of their usual planets. Is there a problem with this in the beta?
Here's my Raptor Class Battleship, combining both Klingon and Romulan ship design concepts:
The military thing means they think you are too weak. The AI's only rrespect military strength. Friendship through force is my motto
Don't blame the game and call it broken for your inability to manage conquest and your economy. I and many others have conquered hundreds of worlds without running into your problem. The problem isn't the game - its your lack of ability. And I hate it when someone claims a game is bugged because they screw up. Oh, yeah, if military conquest were broken, then explain why so many high scorer in the Metaverse have alot of military conquests?
A factory produces 8pt at 100%, 6 pt at 75%. etc. This number (8 or 6) is then split up according to the military, social and research sliders. At 34/33/33 and 75% production (6pt) each area gets a base of 2 pt. These are then modified by race and planet abilities. Whoa, that's the first time I've hea
Who declared war first, you or the other race. Alliances are defensive only - attacking another race does not obligate your ally to defend you.

Right now, I can't really threaten an empire. I can tell them to do something - make peace, "donate" money to me, give me a system, etc. But I can't say do X or I'll launch a trade embargo, or I'll attack you, or I'll make an alliance with the Altarians, etc. I'd like to be able to threaten the AI and it consider the impact of such a threat in its decsion to say yes or no. I realize this might not be easy, but it would make diplomacy more interesti
All bonus resources are empire-wide... Starbases just affect their radius. Now you just contradicted yourself. How can something be empire wide yet have a radius determined by a starbase. It can't be both. It either impact the entire empire or just the planets within it's radius, can't
Don't know whether these have been posted before, but I've found some things that the AI needs adjusting on - and this is playing on the highest AI level where it doesn't get bonuses - not sure whether that's Intelligent or Bright 1) For some reason, the AI is not using morale tiles correctly. I consistently see the AI putting appropriate structures on all other tiles - production, research, influence, farming, etc but for some reason, i
Can anybody tell me how to make these manufacturing planets lose less money without losing my manufacturing production? No because that's not how it works. They will continue to lose money because they are manufacturing worlds. If you want to offset those costs, then you will need to build markets/
I created huge custom ship design, called it "Dreadnought" and the game wouldn't let me save it. It said something like "you cannot modify a core design". But there is no core design that I could see called dreadnought, is there? Maybe you guys used to have a core design called dreadnought and the didn't get all the code out and the game thinks it's still there? Just try designing a huge ship and trying giving it that name and see what ha
