Just go to www.kerryoniraq.com, and it should work. It's sure hard to argue with that piece . I always thought it was pretty opportunistic for Kerry to jump on Dean's Iraq bandwagon, but that video makes it look even worse than I thought... As far as the $87 billion, I've never thought Kerry's position on that was inconsistent, and it kinda annoys me that Republicans ke

"absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." Well you have to admit that this statement is absolutely true, but generally I hear this line from war supporters who have still got their fingers crossed, hoping for WMD to show up. I wonder if that's really all they meant--because if this were their

If Clinton had been President during 9-11, he would have targeted known Al Qaeda camps in Afghanistan with cruise missiles and left it at that. How many times were we attacked during his tenure, and what did he do in response? What did he do in the face of a steady, committed enemy? Well, what was Bush'

I'm completely amazed that we don't have a flood of Moore supporters on this thread. Goes to show that there isn't much to defend, I think... I've lost pretty much all of my respect for Moore, especially since that interview. Also since I saw a new article on Yahoo News (I think ) about Moore doctoring

Baffled, I like your post As far as the lifestyle choice vs. genetic argument, has anyone heard of this hypothesis? I read this somewhere quite a while ago and don't remember where: that there is indeed no single GAY gene, but rather several different genes that happen in isolation in heterosexuals, but then appear together in homosexuals. This would answer the survival-of-th

By employing this system, I can vote in good confidence. Hmm with all due respect, I don't see how. Your system is based entirely on generalizations. As for me, I research all the bigger offices. For all the smaller ones (judges and whatnot) I don't think political party matters as much as experience

Well Veevom, you've inspired me to actually go and read the preamble before I say any more about it It seems to me that "cultural, religious and humanist inheritance of Europe" is their attempt at a catch-all phrase to refer to everything that has made Europe what it is. At the worst , mentioning Christianity in particular is going to alienate millions of Europeans as wel

Hmm, I've seen many points made in this thread about how inextricably linked Christianity is with Europe's past and how beneficial Christianity has been to the continent's development. I don't think I agree with the latter point, but even if I did, I still wouldn't see why these mean that God should be referred to in the EU constitution. One could argue there are lots of other bits of culture and history that have profoundly shaped the history of Eur

Well, we can't very well nominate people who aren't interested in running... Besides, I think Gore might have lost again anyway. I wanted Edwards myself , but Kerry will do.

Yeah, I agree with Solitair that speeches should be just as powerful as they are now. I can't really tell how effective newspaper ads actually are... Also, I think instead of other maps, (or maybe in addition to?) I'd rather see other campaigns, like Nixon vs. Kennedy set in 1960, with 1960's electoral college and 1960's issues. John

More notes from another game with the new beta: - I was going to take out some ads (against Tax Cuts, against War in Iraq), but then I noticed the thumbs up/thumbs down for these ads differed from the ones in the State Issues window. Not sure if that's a bug or not (both these ads show thumbs down for independents, even though in the state issues window independents show up as indifferent...) - My fixer killed my own smear merchant instea

Frogboy, Yeah I definitely see a problem with candidates sending Fixers after all the Al Frankens on week 41. Or even just sending out a bunch of Frankens or Spin Doctors on week 41. I think maybe the effects of Al Franken and the Spin Doctors should be more gradual instead of instantaneous? Say, Al Franken lowers opponents ratings by 5% per week, to a max of 15%, or something like that. And in the same way, the effects of REMOVING an oper

Hi all, I thought this build was MUCH more challenging than the last (which is good). I only noticed a couple mistakes (in addition to others listed in this group): - "Stabilized" misspelled in the HQ upgrade window. - I think the HQ upgrade window is a little confusing in that it lists the price for the NEXT HQ level, but the stats listed are for the CURRENT HQ level. Maybe the stats listed should also be for the next level sin

Ok I played another game this time as GWB vs. John Edwards: - Create Ads screen says "monthly" expense instead of weekly - I placed two radio ads in PA and had only one radio icon show up in the state. I removed the first ad, and the second was nowhere on the map to be found, although it did still show up in PA in my ASSETS list - I think some things should be more dynamic. For example, endorsement costs should be variable-

Am I missing something? Which State of the Union are we talking about??? Bush began making the case for war in State of the Union 2003... http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/01/20030128-19.html There about 17 or so paragraphs about Iraq. I count 15 paragraphs talking exclusively about WMD. One paragraph about human rights. Bush's proposed reason for action was unambiguously WMD at the time: "We will consult. But

I played my first entire game all the way through tonight. Beta 1 never let me get that far! So this is an improvement. Are running mates gone I suppose? It would be cool to have a "pick a running mate" event at like week 20 to mix things up halfway through the year. Maybe this is too big a change this late... In Florida I noticed that giving the speech "I favor Soc Security" were thumbs up across the board, but "My opponent favor
