Nice work here, thanks.

Good AI. A shame the slot bug is still there though. I never remember who those 3 demigods are when setting up a game. :) I noticed that the AI sometimes thinks it can go past 4 towers to capture a flag. On a bright note, they always fell back in time to survive. I mean, to survive the towers. Their 4 remaining hp didn't last long. If you could put the AI in tournaments, it would be great. Thanks again for your efforts.
On second thought, the AI doesn't purchase so many TP late in the game. It is only striking at the beginning. Maybe it can't afford anything else so it keeps purchasing (and using) them at the beginning, until the cash flow enables them to purchase dearer items. At the end, I often see them retreating on foot instead of TP. Shouldn't it be the other way? More TP at the end? But the real question is: can they code that kind of behaviour at all? I don't think so.<
I tried with and without the mod and it is definetly an improvement. Improvements I noticed: _ AI is never idle, unlike vanilla AI. _ AI doesn't charge with low HP. I don't know if you can do anything about it, anyway here's what could be improved: _ the AI tries to teleport when it's very close to its destination (both when attacking and retreating). _ it always purchases TP scrolls. Well, I don't, so maybe I'm the one in the wro
I tried the version which is available on google code and it looks stable to me. I would not be able to tell if it fixes anything up but I didn't get any error and nothing awkward happened. I would love to help you out guys, really. However that kind of script language is too hard for me to handle and I would not be able to tell you if something's wrong with this item or spell. Just know that there are still some people who do appreciate your work
Hello. I've found something strange with my translation of Diplomacy. The title of a map, "Whirlwind", was not translated ingame. So I checked my string file and the name of the map was translated. I checked for any missing " around this line, in vain. I checked the number of " in my string file and it was correct (25160). So I opened my backup of the original english.str (after backing it up, of course) and replaced "Whirlwind" by "Penis". And guess what? There was no
This website is where I got the original translation of Entrenchment. Their current translation of Diplomacy is an old version of mine with minor modifications. Mainly the ship names, which were modified to fit the french centered tastes of the team leader (meh). They also fixed a CTD bug which was, to their credit, really hard to spot. If you want to team up with some motivated people, vieuxchat, you should check them out. Quality is not their main concern though, they
Thanks for the offer, but if I decided to translate Elemental, I would do it on my own. In translation teams there's always the nice guy who thinks he's helping by using google translation and copy-paste. And since I hate that guy, I translate games on my own. That's what I did for the beta of mount and blade. And that's what I ended up doing for Sins. First I took the fan made translation of Entrenchment to port it to Diplomacy. But it was such a pain in the eye that I ended up translating t
As far as french and german are concerned, I totally disagree with you, ScienceMad. I speak both french and english quite fluently, and I can tell you that Disney movies for instance are a lot better in french than in english, especially when it comes to songs. Blizzard has a dedicated team of translators which localized world of warcraft to french in such a way that you would never guess it was developped in english first. The "english is better" argument is just a trend among young people w
Hello. I helped translating SOASE Trinity to french (since the official translation was just terrible) and the boxes of the UI were often too small for the french text to fit in. I think other languages might have the same kind of issue. We had to lower the font size and even then, we faced some difficulties. A french translation is generally 1.5 times bigger than its source. If you design your UI with that in mind, you will get nice translations. <p
Hehe. Hilarious. "It's better for us to stick together." was translated as "Il vaut mieux nous mettre à la colle." which means "We'd better sniff some glue." This is representative of the quality of the French translation. Give me the name of the guy who translated that, please. This is the most overused idiom in the whole English language and he totally got it wrong. I want him to look at me in the eyes and tell me he just didn't sniff some before translating your baby
I tried do translate the new map descriptions of diplomacy and they show up in english in the game (like wrathful, but there are more). I checked the ID and they are the same as the original file. Could you check this out? And warn the localization guys as well if the problem comes from your side. Maybe they finally decided to hire a real french translator. It would be a shame if his work would not show up in game.
I was just about to say that it was a brave move to say "today" instead of "soon". The problem is that today has a definite end. Thursday is good. There are a lot of thursdays :)
We haven't gotten the updated localizations for the latest versions yet from the Euro publisher
And you won't. Haha. You're talking about Calypso media, aren't you? They never answer any question on their forum nor via email. You will need to go to their office in person disguised as the pizza man if you want to hear about them. Nah, I'm kidding you, they actually do answer when you ask them something... in german. Do you know german? :D
Tiny question if you don't mind: when should it hit the servers?
Since some people gave suggestions, here is mine. I want pirates to last long, and I want them to be a threat for any faction. Here is my scenario: Pirates' homeworld is an asteroid and can be conquered. But, being an asteroid, it has little value for any other faction. The cost involved in its taking would not be worth the reward. Pirates have the whole map revealed. (They have people infiltred in every faction). When they strike, they strike where a faction is the weak
I don't mind having strong pirates. But at the moment I see 2 main issues: _ Pirate ships are way too strong compared to faction ships. You can't guess the balance of powers until it's too late. I outnumbered them by 2 in a system they attacked and my forces justed melted like snow under the sun. I saw them coming and I had reinforcements but I never thought that so few of them could steamroll my defenses in a few minutes. You can't manage multiple fronts if you can't get an idea of h
