This latest update is really sluggish when right clicking on Start11, especially if I want to change icons/remove text/pin to Start11 menu. I tried reinstalling Start11 and it made no difference. Any help?

An old bug, which makes the thin line on top of the taskbar disappear and that I reported for 1.31, re-emerged with one of the last updates. I just quote my original report:

Start11 interferes with the appearance of the taskbar without my approval. When the system boots up and the login animation is running, the taskbar looks exactly as I want it (i.e. the Windows default). But after 1-2 sec., Start11 kicks in and you can see some slight changes in color and transparency, the clock shows seconds (which is okay, because that is the one feature I actually want), BUT: the thin border/line at the top of the bar disappears! Despite the fact that I have not enabled the Start11 taskbar and even with unchanged appearance settings (and clock seconds disabled) in the Start11 configuration tool!! [....]

My screenshots in my original post have somehow disappeared, so here are new ones (left = correct, right = bugged):

correct

This got fixed shortly after my report, but since the 1.4x line, the bug re-appeared. I do not know which update exactly re-introduced it, since I do not update Start11 regularly.

I can only repeat what I said back then: please leave the taskbar appearance untouched when Start11 Taskbar is disabled!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I use dark Windows mode (so: dark taskbar), but light App mode (so: light apps).

"Additional fixes that we believe address some of the reported compatibility issues with the KB5026446 Windows 11 release."

This issue seems to have largely been resolved, albeit not fully -- as it is still possible to trigger it. When certain applications are in the foreground, the Windows 11 Start menu appears upon pressing WinKey.

For instance, when I run Paragon Backup & Recovery 17 Community Edition -- and the program is in the foreground -- pressing WinKey results in said behavior. Minimizing the program makes the Start11 Start menu appear correctly upon pressing WinKey once again.

Actually, having any elevated application in the foreground causes the same behavior for me -- pressing WinKey results in a Windows 11 Start menu appearing. Could this be looked into?

Thanks!

This is something on our list to resolve yes.

Exactly what build of Windows 11 are you using?

The line has been a feature of Windows 11 since 22H2 I believe.

Yes, I am on W11 22H2 (otherwise I wouldn't know that the line should be there and would not have been able to make a screenshot of how it looks like before Start11 is loaded ;-) ), with all regular updates. No Insider. Happens on three different systems.

EDT: Exact version string on all systems is 10.0.22621.1778.

Running version 1.45 here, Windows 11. Windows key open start menu while running games in borderless fullscreen, even a game with DISCL_NOWINKEY set (DirectInput8). Didn't have this problem until the last update. Not running with administrative privileges.

I need to report it again because it's still annoying bug.

Clicking on stacked windows - clicking is not doing anything (by default Windows popups the previews instantly instead of waiting on hover). Additionally clicking disables showing up previews so I have to move mouse back and on it again.

Quoting gugl,

With latest version of Start11 (1.45) all icons and time on taskbar became little bit upper than usual (I have taskbar on the top of screen because using ObjectDock). Before update to latest version everything was ok.

Windows 11 Pro 22H2 22621.1702

Downgraded to 1.44, everything looks good:

How did you downgrade ? I'm searching for a download link, but didn't found.

I'm also having problems with winkey sometimes opening the standard startmenu. It does happen with apps running as admin, but also with some that are not, like Steam, Epic Games, Tidal, and FileZilla. Others, like Notepad, Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, etc. opens Start11.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. It is best if both of you could include your Windows 11 full version number. Use Winver.exe to get it.

Thanks

I use start11 on different PCs with Windows 11 Pro.

One PC showes a wrong translation in the startmenu. The other PCs showes the correct german translation.

Settings instead of Einstellungen
Modern IU Applications istead of Universelle Anwendungen

All other translations seems to be correct.

Do you have any idea how this can be?

I use the latest version of start11 and installed every windows 11 update.
The problem appeared not just in the latest start11 version, it starts after the installation before about 6 month and was not fixed by the updates until today.

I also had this once, a complete uninstall and reinstall fixed it. In the current version, only one text is in English, the rest is in German. 👇

Thanks for the information.  We believe we have tracked this down to your non standard scaling factor.  The OS options of 125% or 150% will be fine, but 140% triggers an off by 1 bug in something explorer does which confuses Start11.
