The manual is linked below.  Thanks to everyone who worked on putting it together an making it look great.  Especially Toby Sarnelle, Kathleen Lane, Brian Clair, Leo Li and Nicole Gambrell.

Thanks!

The manual is beautiful. Love the artwork and the words ;)

Yes, it is beautiful.  Still reading through it, but it's one of the very few PDF manuals I've encountered that deserves to be printed in color.  Very nice detail in some sections, too.  The tips at the end of several sections should be of real use to new players, wondering which factions to choose.

Um, iron golems?  Gilden has iron golems?  I missed that.

Not really ^_^
They do have some theoretical Golem thing, but I wouldn't use it...

I use them all the time.

Thanks Derek, this line had me literally laughing out loud.

Spoiler from the Letter from the Designer from back of manual:

But still I sit looking at that monster in his lair, knowing I probably
can’t beat him, but really wanting his treasure.

Great letter, and the manual itself is spectacular as well!

I'm reading this manual.  Do henchmen now die permanently   I've never had that happen, they gain injuries like hero the last time I used them.  And It says that Magnar's warlock bonus gives a +50% damage to his unit's spells?  I though it was just his own?  So all of his champions will have a +50% bonus?

Lovely manual and I got an honorable mention! It felt more like a yearbook than a manual, remembering back through all the changes and developments over the past six months. The best part is the faction pages. Great job there.

That's pretty cool, I'm totally jealous.

thanks! I realllly wanted the faction pages to stand out and get people excited to play... I personally LOVE the variety of play the different faction provide players and feel it gets overshadowed sometimes. Plus, this is the kind of stuff I always would read over and over and over in old manuals ;)

I know some of the UI/rules stuff can get a bit dry.. Also there very well may be some mistakes in there, I'll look into everything people mention and get it fixed asap (the good thing about a digital manual)

Personally I feel like having a solid, legit manual is one of those things that makes us who we are. It's something new games generally don't seem to care about but for me it provides some of that 'old school magic' I miss in current games

the artwork is great and I love the Kingdom of Sriracha and their flaming sigil.

I don't praise games often, but this is a really really good manual and i'm glad you took my advice on making the races and heads of each race as distinct as possible. I'm digging the flavor of the game and i'm really excited.

Great work.

Shouldn't this be stickied btw?

I take back my praise. I can't believe you don't have a list of spells included in the manual. /facepalm I want to read about the spells :I

It's a thing of beauty. I want a professionally printed copy, please.

Me too.  I think there's actually still a bunch of old boxes around here somewhere; 3DO and LucasArts put out some gems.

Amazing work Kestral, reading your manual I had nostalgia tears swelling in my eyes. :star:

Nice job on the Fallen Enchantress Manual, Kestral2040!  It really does look classic!  As Kael said, thanks to you and your team for putting it together (Toby Sarnelle, Kathleen Land, Brian Clair, Leo Li, Nicole Gambrell).  It's another one of those "little things" that makes the whole package (the game, as well as the Beta process) seem that much cooler ... and a Cut Above ... what we typically see from Stardock's competitors.  Congratulations on a job well done !

P.S.  Please let us know, in this thread, or where-ever appropriate, when you issue major revisions to the Manual.

It won't load for me. :(

It won't load for me.

I had trouble loading it too.  At first, it would only load about 4 Megabytes, and then stall, and say that there was a Network error.  I think what was happening, was that the file was so big (32++ Megabytes) that it was overwhelming my copy of Adobe Acrobat.

BUT, I just kept trying to reload; and I noticed that each successive reload captured an increasingly larger portion of the total document (4 Megs, then 4.6 Megs, then 5.1 Megs, then 5.6 Megs, etc.)   I discovered that each reload got me closer to the complete Manual, and after about 60 reloads (which only took 3 or 4 seconds each), that I had the complete Manual, which then worked perfectly !

This might work for you too.  I'd suggest giving it a try.  It won't take long to find out if it might work ...

Good Luck !

Doing it that way is going to take almost an hour considering it only loads kbs instead of mbs....

I don't know if anyone has printed it yet but it was sized so that it's just under 8.5 x 11 so that you could 3 ring binder it.

Sorry to hear that, Polistes.  I know that Adobe can be frustrating on a number of different levels ...

Frogboy, I am one of people who likes Manuals; and I definitely liked the look of this one,.  So I did indeed print it out (the 78 pages were thereby reduced to 40), and filed my copy in a three ring binder.  It works very well -- for reading, when I am away from my computer -- or as a reference source, when I am sitting in front of my game machine.  Very Nice !
