OK. Call me anal but all the gradient silhouettes are driving me nuts. So I decided to make a full set avatar from the Elemental resources we currently have. Please note that Luckmann has added many more avatars to the collection.You can get them below.

 

NOTE:  most of these were created/cropped/edited by folks other than myself, so please give credit where credit is due

Additional Note:  There are many more avatars scattered throughout the forum.  I just posted the majority of them here.  I have tried to include suggested pages to find more avatars by the various avatars if you want to look further.  You can also use the "view edits" button if you're very very brave to view all previous versions of this main thread and the images where-in.

This OP is under construction.  Due to some browsing issues it is being completely reformatted and built from scratch.  There are other user avatars and lots of additional avatars that are supposed to be here in the OP.  Jalicos (page: 15) and eplekogen (page: 5) come to mind right away.  They should have avatars in this OP soon.  Of course wintersong has tons of avatars scattered throughout the web.  its a work in progress tracking them down and sorting into 'official art' and 'unofficial art' especially since some of the old 'official' art did not match the current style as well as others.

We are busy people though, and editing this takes more time than one might think.

I gave you karma for your avatar in the other thread. It rocks! And I dont like anime or toonish stuff as a general rule.

 

Also if you link me the original size I'll see what I can do with the reduction sharpness to make it better.

I tried every trick I know and I could not get any better then you have. I even tried hipass and color burns and all sharps.

The only thing that might work is to take a picture of it at full size on a LCD monitor with a digital camera set to 100x100 at high contrast.

Hmm... I think the one in the lower left looks better then the one I have at the moment.

Though it's a bit more brown then the original, so...

Argh, I can't decide for myself.

I suck at deciding for something and I wan't to call myself a magic emporer?

I really can't say which ones do look better. X(

And yes, I know that the middle one is a bit more brown/golden, but it kinsa came to be due to an accident. I was messing around, and I liked how it turned out, since it brought out all the darker colors a bit more.

Edit: My favourite by far is the leftmost one, since it's the one closest to the original, but with a lot less blur.

I also made a higher level contrast one but decided the more pale original one looks better for the forum skin style. I think maybe a blue channel boost of 10% with a 5% sharp might do the trick and still keep the pale tone to the rest.

I made some simple recolorings of the Firestone (the red gem), enjoy, all.

     

     

     

Just so you know, the technical name for the brown crystal(s) is "Bearstone".

Edit: Going to test two more, if they don't look right, I'll take them back down in a moment, otherwise, they're up for grabs.

Edit: Fixed an alignment issue with 2 of the avatars, where the top was off 1px each. More noticable than one would think.

The Fallen could be hard (since I'm by far no expert in these matters), because it's so dark. I'll try, though. As for the dragon, I guess that's coming up next, since it shouldn't be hard.

That is the beauty of the fallen. Making the armor standout from the dark eerie environment and still retain that sexy mystic about it. Given the work you have already done. I would say you are more than capable of doing such a thing. Hell you are starting to make me look with all the new items - not that I mind. A dozen or so more and you should surely start your own gallery thread.
