Computer Freezing

I bought Sins about a week ago. have completed maybe one game without a crash.

My entire PC will freeze at a random point. I can't minimize, force exit etc the computer is locked up so I have to force a hard shutdown.

The game seems to run fine 90% of the time and the cause of this is deffinatly not due to a high strain on the PC. It has happened 1 hour into the game and it has happened during multiplayer setup and 5 minutes into a normal game.

I reinacted the crash on dev so here is the log, I'm running Win 7 64 bit

Computer froze and I had to force a shutdown.

I have integrity checked and fully downloaded and reinstalled the game.

Any help would be great.

Yup, looking at your dxdiag, your video drivers are seriously out of date. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Nvidia is supporting that chipset anymore either with driver updates. I would contact your point of purchase for a refund, as there's nothing we'll be able to do in this case.

I've played numerous games fine before steam. As soon as steam is present this is when the issues began.

Also steam do not do refunds.

I'm going to run the version of sins without steam while i go out and see what the results are.

I'm also playing newer games such as torchlight 2 with no issues so I doubt very much it has to do with drivers.

Is there anyway to play the game without steam online multiplayer? It woudn't suprise me if steam was at fault.

This is rediculous. Yesterday 2 full games, lasted ages no crash. This morning 2 games crashed within 10 minutes of each game.

This isn't fair to other players and it's driving me nuts

Is it down to the drivers? Steam won't refund.

I've noted it says on Stardock site 296.10 nvidia drivers are required and as you stated my gpu is unsupported.

Steam should say this on their purchase info

Their page mentions mobile chipsets, but I'll ask that they include all chipsets.

I tried running a different game earlier (TL2) and it said a file was missing I'm running 64bit so I didn't have the x86 installtion of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 . I've installed this and (fingers crossed) 3 games played haven't had any issues with sins.

Wow, good to know. Strange that it wanted that, though. I'll let the devs know. We can easily pop that into the installer if it's missing.

Since I did the fix I've had no issues, not one crash having played 10+ games succesfully for long periods (3+ hours)

Game runs smooth and trouble free.

- Reinstalled Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)

- Installed missing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)

My guess would be it was the missing x86 as i've seen steam make a pop up error refrencing sins with x86.
