Zah, Thanks for replying. In reply to your reply, how about a separate tree for starbase modules and the tech needed to get them? Possibly that's the solution. Giving this a bit of thought, possibly that's the solution for all of it. :D Separate tech trees. One for starbase modules, one for social, and one for ship. That would reduce down what needs to be shown, the number of arrows snaking around everywhere, and possibly ... just possibly enable each to be printed off on one pag

One, I sure wish Brad would put a sticky on this thread so it is easy to find. Two, on the next update of this tech tree could you at least identify which is a social build and which is a starbase module? Ideally, I'd much prefer a tech/module tree for just the starbases. Right now, I'm having problems figuring out what to research next for the next starbase module. At present, I'm just wandering around blindly research stuff and hoping a new starbase module appears in one of the res

As more and more people start participating in this forum, this forum needs to evolve as much as the game needs to fix bugs and problems ... as well as twink its way to perfection. Here's my suggestions for this forum so far: 1) Different forums for different general topics. At the very least, a separate forum for strategy discussions, bug reporting, and suggestions. This one here being the catch-all/general/misc. forum. 2) Preview button, the ability to edit one's post, a s

I'm figuring the odds of this existing is slim but on the off-chance it exists... Is there a key command for seeing colony ships and/or constructors that are in orbit (or, if it's easier, not moving)? I don't need to see colony ships and constructors in flight since I've already dealt with them. I'm finding how the ships are ordered in the different ship roster not lending itself to showing easily colony ships and constructors waiting for orders. I'd like to not have to scroll up and

I would sure appreciate if there was a button (or at least a key combination) to be able to see all the colony ships and constructors not moving / in orbit. Colony ships and constructors that are in flight I don't need or want really to see. I do need to see the ones not moving / in orbit since that means they're waiting for instructions where to go. I hate having to scroll around on the ship lists for these. It would really help speed up the end-game when GalCiv (like MOO2 before it) become

I tried to print it off but it only printed off the upper left corner of it. (:( Also, when viewing it on my computer's 21" monitor, it is so small as to be unreadable. (:( Advice how to print it off and be able to read it on my computer please. I'm using Win2000, Internet Explorer v.6, HP OfficeJet 720.

LOL OK, I've found a solution. In fact, it kills two birds with the same stone. Literally kills. LOL I set my military spending between 10-15% and let the rest be equally split between social and research. All planets not needing to build another type of ship build colony ships. I just keep these parked in orbit. When I need a new planet colonized, I toss 100M into a colony ship and send it on its way. WARNING: If you toss in a % of your planet's population on a colony s

Jlrogers, I guess I'd argue the opposite for capitalism. As industries evolve, they need less and less workers. Look at how many workers are needed in the agricultural industry today. A fraction of what it was in the past. Reason: improved technology. Same goes for manufacturing. To make a Ford car today, it takes a quarter of the work force as it did to make a Model-T. And there's really no industry that's immune to this. The restaurant industry has been this way as well. The

Morale bonus for picking "Good" decision choices. Come on, this just makes sense. Wouldn't you like to be part of an empire/federation/whatever that did The Right Thing? Maybe there might be a negative morale bonus on that specifc planet for certain decisions, but empire-wide you should get a morale % bonus for all your planets for being a good guy. :)

There have been some suggestions on how to deal with the overpopulation issue in the game. Overpopulation is a problem because once a planet goes beyond a certain population point, it starts having morale problems. Major morale problems. I'm sure this was meant to be a penalty aspect of the game that you're to work into your game strategy. However, it goes way too far. Quickly no matter what you do, the morale on your planets plummets. You can have all the morale bonuses, propaganda machin

I typed: "Each planet does give another planet or the association..." I meant to type: "Each planet does not give another..." OH, and how hard would it be to have a spellchecker and preview on this form????? Please get these. In fact, this is the only forum I know that doesn't at least have a preview option. For a supposed high-tech game, this forum is sure behind the times.

New form of government: Confederation. Gets the 60% economic bonus of Federation and is just as hard to maintain control of the senate. How it differs from Federation is that if the currently wasted manpower resources is fixed and it is something like "Trade Goods", you cannot transfer money made at one planet to another. Each planet does give another planet or the associations of planets this extra cash and only spends it on its own projects. The planet can store up the mone

Not being able to use the money generated by a planet's build queues would only make sense if the dev team were to come up with a new form of government: Confederation. Then each planet looking out for just itself and not wanting to give another planet its hard earned cash. By the way, I do like the idea of this new form of government and this penalty that comes with it. I think a counter bonus would be a very very low instance of succession since they're basically independent already. <b

And what if there's no planet making any ships? I commonly have enough colony ships (usually lots just hanging in orbit waiting for a planet to be discovered), military ships, etc. All my ship queues have been game-years with nothing to build until the next tech advance is achieved, planet discovered, new race found to crush ... errr, I mean ... ummm ... set up diplomatic relations with. Yes, that's what I mean. :) And if this did happen (no ship or social work being built by any planet), w

First, I think I'll just continue playing this game on my roommate's computer until this issue is resolved. Second, my suggestion is simply taking from MOO2 and having "Trade Goods" be an option you can set for the governors. I think all this can be solved at the governor level and not need to be done done at the planet level. The above suggestion would be the absolute simplist. However, if you wanted more choices for the governors, I could see the following: "Materi

OK, I've read through all 165 posts. :p HOPEFULLY, the developers are still reading this forum. Saying and HOPING they are... 1) PLEASE have an opening post in this forum that lets us know that you've read these posts. Sort of a "Suggestions So Far" post. In this post, you list what has been suggested and A) why it won't/can't be done or B) that it is being currently worked on or at least on the "to do" list and ETA in either case. THEN sort the posts by those that have been lo
