I am a medical transcriptionist. Right now doctors are protesting high malpractice insurance and walked out of the hospital that was my main account so I am screwed until they come back....and my WC subscription is due in a couple of days and here I am making zilch! Bummer. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/s

Didn't mean anything about anyone here, I love this place. It is just the hackers and spammers and all the other people that make my computer experience a nightmare. Constantly updating virus programs, spam-locks, pop-ups and hackers. In my opinion, my computer is my way of getting out and communicating with others, downloading beautiful skins and desktops, wallpapers, and things and enjoying my time off of work and on my computer, but then someone has to come along and just screw everything
Just heard this on the news. About time. I have a baby brother over there who needs to come home safe and sound and the more of Saddams family they get,the better. Sorry, but I can't cry over those fellows. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by SkinBrowse
Is this all people have to do anymore, screw up other people's enjoyment. Get this jerks a new toy to play with other than someone's computer or website or whatever. Get a life. I can't believe what some a...h...s do for entertainment. Sorry, but this is just a subject that irks me to no end. Anyone with the knowledge (or idiocity) to mess up other peoples computers and websites, why don't they create a new cancer drug or AIDS drug or something that BENEFITS people instead of being jerks. #29, Yrag, those were the two that screwed up my machine. I did do a system restore point before downloading the updates so fortunately I wasn't in such bad shape this time. I think I'll just forget the last 4 updates. I have Norton antivirus and firewalls so I should be okay until some new idiot comes up with a way to jeopardize my computer! <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/
Is it the right resolution? I downloaded a bunch of Desktop X themes and found out they were not the right resolution for me.
I'm jealous. The only thing I know how to do is download all of the beautiful skins and themes you all make. I am going to learn one of these days but right now I just enjoy using all the ones you people make. I am very envious of each and every one of you. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif"
I am on the west coast of Florida, and when good ol' Claudette goes towards Texas, that is one less worry for me. Wouldn't wish a hurricaine on my worse enemy though. It is always fun to have hurricaine parties unless they are coming right at you, then it isn't so much fun anymore. Thank goodness this one petered out and didn't slam you. This is the height of hurricaine season right now so keep your fingers
Addendum: I understand not being able to get one or even two, but this makes 4 I can't get.
This sucks. I just got an automatic update for 2 more Microsoft updates with different numbers and I did go ahead and get them. Security updates to keep someone from accessing your machine. Same crap, my Email would not come up at all this time and I couldn't even GET ANY Email at all. Says my host server is shot or something like that. What the crap is up with this? I never had problems with updates before. I had to do a system restore again to get them out of my computer as a "remove pro
What is a vacation? Is that a new computer term? I haven't been on a vacation for 11 years when I went to see Marvelous Marvin in Michigan. He went back with his ex-wife and that was the end of Marvelous Marvin and my vacations. <
Philips 15 inch LCD. I got it at Best Buy as a store display model. It didn't have a box so they sold it to me for 200.00 a year ago. Like I needed the box?? I absolutely love it. Before that I had a 19 inch Sony Triniton that was nice but it must have weighed 100 lbs. Too much for me to tote around. Sold it to my ex-landlord for 100.00. He got a heck of a deal because I think I paid close to 650 for it. This Philips is a beautiful monitor but a 19 inch would be better. <img src="http://image
Thank you all for the information. Sorry I didn't thank you right away. I couldn't get back here because work was piling up. But wanted to make sure you knew I appreciate your help. These computers get frustrating sometimes with all the updates and trying to keep on top of things, especially with all the nuts out there that have nothing better to do than sabatoge computers! I am afraid if I get an update it will screw things up but also worried about not getting one and having bigger problems.
Went back and reread the thread again It was 811493 update that did the job on my E-mail. That was the number of one of the two updates I had to delete to get things working again. It evidently just doesn't like my machine. Both times I downloaded it, the same thing happened. My Outlook Express would come up but it took 5 minutes or longer. Wonder why it works for some people and not others?? Wonder if it is something I have different in my settings that is screwing up that download for me
I downloaded the new Microsoft updates yesterday and my Outlook Express would not work. Well, it worked, but it took 3 minutes or so for it to open. I tried deleting the updates through Add/Remove programs, and still the same problem. So I had to do a System Restore to get the Outlook Express to open correctly. Figure that one out??? Now I am scared to download any of the updates. Any suggestions? Call Microsoft? I hate not having the security updates added to my computer. <img src="http:
Thanks for the help. That answers a lot of questions. This time they have a driver to update for the modem (noncritical update), so I was hesitating on that one and some of the others that did not pertain to my computer usage. I appreciate all the input.
Florida, the Sunshine State!! Hi!
How do I know when to update and when not to? My computer works fine right now and I have heard some real horror stories about Microsoft updates. Right now I have 4 critical waiting to download. I used to download them all, whether I needed them or not. Should I keep on downloading or just basically download what I think is necessary? What about the security downloads, are they all necessary. I know this isn't a Microsoft discussion board but I really don't know who else to ask and you all see
When my ex-husband and I were going steady in high school, we were necking on the couch at my parent's house...well, we were really doing probably more than necking. My dad came down the stairs and had to go to the bathroom (we had one bathroom). My ex ran into the bathroom with what he thought were HIS pair of jeans. They were mine. I am on the couch in HIS jeans and he was in the bathroom with a pair of size 5 jeans. Needless to say, he could not come out and my dad was fuming because he c
MY NEW DESKTOP. I absolutely love this skin. Well, I love them all actually. Gold is one of my favorites and this is just beautiful. Everyone does a great job on all WBs!! I would give anything to be able to do what all of you do. I am not sure I have the patience and certainly not the knowledge, but I sure appreciate all that you guys and ladies do. I really love this Metal-X. Grayhaze has outdone himself!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/events.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absm
Hey I went in to see what everyone looked like and they suspended it???? Who broke the camera?
I used to go into the Display section on Control Panel and change every little thing piece by piece until I got what I wanted. After doing that for a year or so, I typed in "downloads" and this was one of them, downloaded it and the rest is history. I absolutely love OD, WBs, Icon Packager, the whole shee-bang. I can't imagine being on the computer and not having OD to keep me from absolutely going bonkers. I work on the computer for a living (medical transcription) and after 30 years of typi
I just got Citizen Brazil's download above and it seems like it would work faster and better than the Pop-Up Stopper I suggested. Thanks Brazil
I should add, I got Pop-Up Stopper by typing pop-ups in the address bar and this was one of many that popped up. There were several but they were either ones you had to buy or did not stop MSN pop-ups. This was free and did the job.
I got Pop-Up Stopper, a FREEBIE, and it works great. It gets rid of all pop-ups. I would get them all day long when I was trying to work on my computer and it was so irritating. This one works for me. I have Windows XP if that makes any difference, wouldn't think so. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smi
