Why are we [HH] 2 colors? (keep us yellow)
You're two colors? :P
Random is fine third, but imbalanced is not. I don't want a Separate ladder where our games are decided by skill with the totally random fluke of a shitty starting location costing me a game. Untill we have scripting to do what I mentioned, random elements should be avoided by competitive gaming entirely. We must keep games even with each team having an equal chance of winning, with the only factors deciding a win being Race selection (I wish this was not a factor, but it always will be! k
Added, thanks for your input! As it stands now, I have a general idea of what the clans are thinking competitively. The next step is uniformity, founding a council, and constructing a web-based ladder. I'm willing to set up a website with a forum pertaining purely to competition rules and settings, posting the current rules, etc. As for the council, every clan that wants to participate will be admitted (with some prerequisites, such as an official announcement and thr
Thank you for clearing the matter up, I can assure you that our leader, Paradox, would never do such a thing short of experimenting with acid... which... he's too poor to purchase :D
I agree with haeso as to it not being good for competitive play, but if people want to play it, I'm not going to say anything. As for random resources around planets and asteroids, that really annoys me too.
Random elements can be in a separate category for competitive ladders. See "Hardcore and Skirmish" above :P
Fleet size sould be normal for 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3, but large for 4v4 and 5v5. (You need more ships for bigger maps, and giant battles are awesome, too.)What do you mean by using pirates, yay or nay, and if so, what setting?. I didn't think there were settings besides on and off...
I meant settings like which map :P Sorry I was unclear, it is kinda confusing that way.
Okay, all suggestions have been updated except for....
Fleet size sould be normal for 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3, but large for 4v4 and 5v5.
Fleet size needs to be Normal, IMO.Build rate could be normal as well.. but Fast is fine.Maelstrom is a good 3v3 map.Razor's Edge should be in the 2v2 list not just 3v3. (It's only 20 planets, 2 lanes, small enough for 2v2 definitely, and how it plays as 2v2 can be very interesting.)And I think fire/ice is an interesting 2v2 map.. but maybe I'm alone on that one. For Maelstrom and Razor's Edge 2v2 I'm sure those should be up there.Haeso, I understand your point about having random planet
RaY no longer exists, at least, all the active members are part of X now.
Good to know, thanks!
Great work Third, it is great that someone finally took the initiative of forming this structure. As for other organized clans, anybody hear from SobanForce or RaY?
Haven't heard from RaY or SF, and the Space Ponies haven't popped in yet (at least they haven't identified themselves.)
I would nominate Maelstrom for 3v3. I'm surprised people like Entanglement over Maelstrom. The nice thing about Maelstrom is that while there ARE planets to expand to, every HW
Haeso, I understand your point about having random planets/resources and it being a pain if your in a "bad start position"... Thats a good point, but at the same time, I think a "type" of tournament that includes random planets/resources is important...It judges how well you ADAPT to a different scenario... If you don't know how far away your opponent is immediately, whether you'll have lots of metal or crystal, etc...It makes things more exciting and require more instant-decision-making.
This seems like the best community actions so far in Sins.Though, I am quite certain once this catches on, it will run into problemsIts best to lay some ground rules, and have a person or two to enforce them.
My goal is to have everything collective. Votes and such. If it's split, we can cross that bridge later, but we have to start somewhere :P Problems we're going to overcome TOGETHER. If you have just 1 or 2 people in charge, thats not enough opinions. I'm co
Nice. Hope this really hits off. Can maybe change the font/background a bit? It makes my eyes bleed :P
Woot! Thanks for putting this together, great addition to my 'ways to waste precious company's time' ! Keep it coming! :D
Could you add Hopeful Horizon to the Recognized Clans part? I'll get my superiors to get back to you with suggestions and stuff.
Added! And thanks for joining!
It is a complex game, yes. Your best bet would be to join a clan that is newb-friendly (RaY, GE, HH, etc) and learn from teammates/training games. It's what helped me! :D
It is unfortunate, yes. Training replays that I post for new recruits in my clan have to be updated every patch. As for patching in general, I think the devs are doing a great job, doing what they can, and are definitely listening to the players. The Devs wouldn't ruin old replay files if they could help it. I'm assuming that its just the way the replays work, simulating actions from the users based on the engine, etc. And therefor, when the game statistics are changed/engine/etc, the
Hamachi is dangerous for people who LIVE off of their laptop (work, etc) like me :( Luckily, I've fixed my router issues, and while on a WAN card, I have no problem with hosting/joining games :D
Pirates (early game) can be handled like so: Let's say they're attacking your asteroid, or a new planet. Send a few ships to take out their planet bombers, then scuttle your two extractors (metal/crystal) and then leave the planet. The remaining pirates will have no means of attacking, and leave. Maybe its an exploit? But It's essentially all the pirates DO to a planet. Scuttling the structures just makes it go faster, and gives a little bit of resources back in return.
It's surprisingly easy to Destra Crusader rush with the advent. Granted, if you're being attacked you'll be best off trying to spam Defense Vessels and Illuminators, at maybe a 2:1 Defense:Illuminator ratio. Once they start to leave you alone, it's not hard to build those 2 extra weapons labs, slowly pump out destras, and most times the enemy wont be ready for HC spam :D
The akkan doesnt increase dps. The %hit increase is mainly useful for fighters, bombers, and flak. It also gives you a range increase that basically just helps you get the first shot in and again increases the affectiveness of fighters, bombers, and flak. Pairing an Akkan with a fleet of mainly light frigates will give you no real advantage. LRM spam will murder you.
Agreed. An LRM spam will not only be able to take out your Akkan, but will destroy the cobalts as well
This probably is most common in Foreign Invasion, as that is a 3v3 where one team member HAS to start isolated. On FI it's a bit easier to help out your team mate because he's not that far, but the enemies are still closer. The method that seems to work for me in the past, is having 1 player keep the enemy team member on your side busy/distracted and have the others go to attack/distract the enemy. This gives the isolated team member a chance to at least build up some defenses, and if you have p
The top pertains to all, sorry for the multi-posts, but its not a recruiting thread. If people are looking for a clan, they should go elsewhere, its a discussion about competition official rules :D
however, I was wondering if we could have speed (and fleet size ect.) recomendations as well.
Already there :D
As for the name, I think something concerning sins sould be included, like the Clan Counsil for Sins of a solar empire (CCS)
Very nice, its added! :D Don't be shy if you're not familiar with Ladders, how they work, or haven't competed in ladders for your whole life. We wanna hear everyone's opinion!
Awesome, thanks for the input guys. I'll edit the post to show votes and such now. Try to spread the word so we can get more opinions.
- FFA Not viable
I believe an FFA type ladder is very viable. Perhaps 5 player locked teams FFA, for ladder purposes can have point distribution like so: 1st: 5, 2nd: 2, 3rd: 0, 4th: -2, 5th: -3.
4. Rules for saves/records/minidumps Hope that minidumps go away. From what Blair posted, saving does nothing. Y
