As an addendum to the example above, I was playing that gigantic map PRAYING that the super event would trigger where trade revenue increases by a value of 10X. That was the whole point of playing that game, I wanted to see 20000+ BC a turn from trade, but it didnt happen, boo...

If you are not a focused trader, like the Korx or Terran for example, or even a neutral race with Neutral Shipping tech, then trade does indeed play a smaller and smaller role on gigantic maps. As you colonize 100+ worlds 1000 BC a turn can turn out to be very little. Its like a millionaire having a paper route for some extra cash. On the flip side, I have played the Korx on a gigantic map and maxxed out trade and trade routes with my bonus points, declared neutral for the extra tra

Yes, research treaties are not quite worthless, but i will admit, they could or should be a little better. In the example listed above, though, look at it from another angle. Instead of getting 8 TP when you are producing 100 TP, you are getting an 8% boost in research. Thats like having an extra point or two for racial bonuses when starting the game and putting it in research. And over a longer game, 8% is huge.

Do you have a military? If not, you will get attacked by the comp A LOT. The Drath ability does help in getting wars started. Your bribes seem a little cheaper, and you can also get races to war even when they have a higher level of relations with someone. Example: The Terrans and the Altarians are "Neutral" toward one another. As the Korx you pay the Altarians 1000 BC to go to war. As the Drath, it might be 500 BC, just making up numbers. BUT, as the Drath I have also noticed that you c

That can get really expensive, though, and gets less effective the more you do it since it correlates to the population size and loyalty of the race. On a planet with 12000 troops you might sway 2000+ depending on their loyalty. When there are only say, 2000 troops, you pay 800 BC to sway 200. And it does change after you do it one or 2 times. I think it works similar to Morale. The troop loyalty is easier to control and is higher as the population goes down, the same way morale tends to be

Yeah, if it fails, perhaps it failed because the mass drivers or tidal disruption etc. didnt fire correctly and the troops who THOUGHT they would have the advantage really didn't. Then, both sides still take damage to troops, but the defenders avoid the collateral damage and avoid the loss of planetary structures. That might be dumb in your opinion, too, though. I know thinking this way helps me to sleep better at night when I stress about this game bug.

Was the planet invaded one that had recently flipped? Meaning your influence won them over and it became your planet. If so, the Iconians might have been invading that planet then it flipped to you. I have seen that happen and it doesnt result in war. If that didnt happen, it could be a bug, there's a program you can download from Stardock to run before you play a game and it will make a report you can send in if you feel theres a bug.

Star Wars for sure, but I like the Imperial March better than the main theme title track. Braveheart bagpipes are pretty sweet. I dont know if thats a "theme song". And I love the James Bond song, the main one, not the individual ones made for each movie. Along that line, the opening song for Mission Impossible rocks.

Well, the computer doesnt have to declare war on you to invade unless you are under that UP agreement to wait one week. And the announcements are always one week behind the turns, so if you return fired the next round you should see the "Iconians blah blah declare war on so and so" when you hit the turn button. Sorta like when you wipe out a civ in 1 turn then on the next turn it tells you that you killed them. Its the computer's way of saying "Hey, IF you forgot, you killed these g

Theres also a button if its already on the asteroid. Something like "construct", or "Do what I tell you Stupid Miner or you're fired". I think after the latest patch it just says "Build". As for the spore ship. You do have to research it in the tech tree, and then you treat it like a transport, you have to "invade" the planet, but it will auto-convert it to your ownership with like Adam and Eve colonizing it.

Arceans! They are "Super-Warriors". Which just rocks. They are like a whole race of Chuck Norris descent.

Its DA 1.6. I dont have saved pre-upgrade data, but I have since moved the ship around in space, and I think its a glitch similar to when my resource starbases "disappear". Sometimes when I see the ship it shows as the old one, but if I highlight it or click on it, in the text window it shows correctly. Kinda like when I will see a resource that looks unowned but if I click on it, it shows the starbase. So apparently its just something with the graphics?

I dont know if its a bug or if this is normal, hopefully someone can tell me. I had a medium hulled ship, with very basic weapons, like a few mass driver III's or something, but over the course of it surviving a LOT of battles, it had 113 HP and a lot of experience. So, as my weapons got better and miniturization improved I had a new model and upgraded the old one. It lost all its HP and experience, is that normal? Now it is as though I just built it off the assembly line, which is s

Another thing about morale and farms is you should try to keep the majority of your planets at the same pop cap. Most colonized worlds will start with a 6 Billion cap. This way when you adjust your tax rate its fairly uniform across the board. Usually I add a basic farm or Xeno farm, not anything beyond that unless I have Uber-high Morale and just need more cash. Also, dont build economic centers when the population is relatively low. If you have .45 out of 6 Billion on your planet, buildin

Yeah first game I ever played I didnt gear up militarily fast enough and the Terrans started pushing me around and taking my planets. This was on something very low, like 1 or 2 levels above cakewalk so I pulled out a tech victory before my treasury hit negative 500 and grinded everything to a halt. I felt pretty crappy that I barely won on a low level like that and ever since I have hated seeing the Terrans when I start a game. Combine that with the fact that they are shrewd negotiators, and

Sooo...where to start. Pick whatever race you like, set production slider to 100%, lower tax rate until approval is 100%. Research whatever direction you want to go in. Move military slider to zero and research slider to 75. This should put social slider at 25. Rush buy a colony ship. Start building either a factory or a lab. Set survey ship to Auto Survey. With my intial colony ship I dont normally go to the other planet around my homestar. You can grab it later. Go explore an

So the psyonic weapons you unlock when ethically evil, whats the big upside? They seem to be super expensive and when you compare the size/damage ratio, arent listed as doing any more damage than using multiple other weapons, that are still cheaper.

I have done that several times with good results, I personally think trading get a bad rap. One thing you might consider is starting as the Korx, or even the Terran as opposed to the custom. You can get your trade higher since they get natural bonuses AND points to add. If you are debating on where to put points ( trade ROUTES or just trade) go with trade. Keep with your mercantile political party. One other fun thing to do if you are the Korx, is to pick a few "Good" and "neu

If you go to the screen during the game set up where it allows you to tweak your opponents, you can also increase the amount of memory that the CPU is allowed to use, which supposedly allows it to make better decisions during the gameplay. Ive never done it, though, so I dont know how much that would help.
