Too many points to really address but I have made the strongest sets of custom races I can think of and on a gig map on painful I set it to random opponents. I try to make a new custom race every game and end up playing against the races I dominated with the games before. It has been very interesting and challenging to do. I agree about the Ico's they are the weakest link but with 9 opponents they can still be a challenge when declaring war when you are fighting two other civs. I also agree abou

Great tips. I have been doing all factory's on my home world and research on every other one I get except of course the big 16 or better class eco world to keep me from totally going broke. I get speed bonus and crank out small colony ships and about 5 to 8 survey ships with no engines on a small hull and basic life support where it fits. After I have about 10 planets on a gig map I usually have another planet I make my manu capital since I tend to flip my capital to something else as it gets fa

I tend to play Evil 70% of the time, Neutral 20%, Good 5%. You should try taking math for your remaining 5%. I play as good, so my armies of "crusaders" can annihilate all those inferior evil races. Or I play as neutral to get the bonuses. Amen - You who play evil are cowardly wimps. Those of you who stay good are the real warriors.

I enjoy the new spy system, but I think it could be expanded to be even better. For example, I'd love to be able to use a spy to destroy or temporarily disable an enemy ship, or to steal money from a trade route. Or use spies to cause political dissent, making my enemy lose control of his senate. I actually did this in a game. I didn't want to take my small fleet against the heavy militarized drengin but I notice

I had a game where the peacekeepers allied with the arceans. After that they began nuking everything in sight like you described. I just camped out at my bases and by the time I had the army to take them out they had just disapeared. So to add to your questions I want to add how can a non race with no planet ally with someone? I never saw them get destroyed and after conquering every planet I never found theirs.

I just got an influence win on normal with the humans. 9 players and tons of minor races helped a lot. Early on I colonized then researched diplomacy while they where easy to get and switched back and forth from researching diplomacy research and improvement techs as I needed them. I didnt build a warship either. I trade techs back and forth for planets and make sure to trade one tech to everyone at the same time for the most they will give me. I take ships planets cash and more techs this way.

Use your servey ship and build a scout while you are colonizing to find all the other civs and sell them any extreme colony techs or low lvl techs you have. Extreme colony techs are somewhat useless imo since you can always just conquer them later and if you can find any minor races they will usually pay insane amounts for colonizing techs they dont use. Just make sure to not sell weapon or diplomacy techs unless they are way below what you currently are at since that can get you killed or ruin
