I just thought I'd toss some general thoughts your way, some of this may help you out. - If you aren't going to focus on any military at all early on, consider making diplomacy a strong suit through your racial choices and techs. - Keep in mind factories affect not only military production, but social production as well. - Switch around your economy priorities often. Perhaps you don't need any military production for a brief time and you can spend nothing on it while you focus o

In my case I was already dominating the game, it was not far from being done and I was playing a neutral alignment, so it was a no brainer to either trade it for other techs or just give it away and I just gave it away to all of the races, good or evil. Ironic how it went from there because the Terrans not only suddenly turned on me, but then they got a mega event that was going to make them "god like" if I didn't deal with them. The gave over their worlds to someone else shortly thereafter howe

Think of it as our way of supporting the ongoing development. Money now can be more useful to Stardock than money later. We get something in return for our support, which is nice. If you believe in the product, you should support it. Now I am willing to bet you don't have the spare money to preorder the beta or this would be a moot issue probably. Few and far between would make such a statement, especially considering a product they obviously look forward to using. If that's the case -

The AI just needs to be smart enough to sell off ships that exceed its budget or ships that are obsolete to it. Give them ships to ruin their economy, they instantly sell several, exploit (of sorts) backfires.

I don't know if this even exists in the original GC2 so pardon if I posted this in DA erroniously. The plague cure event leaves something to be desired if you're playing the good guy. I got this event and researched it, gave it to everyone free. Their attitude seemed to improve only if I had relatively poor relations with them to begin with and not by a ton then. These people are dying out and I am their savior, yet their thanks seems minimal. They also weren't willing to trade that muc

I think it's not too well balanced on each end. I can send spies in and they get caught immediately often, and if not, often within a few turns. Even with a high espionage rating. Then the computer can dump a ton on you suddenly and if you haven't kept a lot of spies sitting around, you're in trouble. I think there should be a better way to neutralize spies and that spies should have a harder time infiltrating to begin with, but once there, they're hard to catch. The AI seems to use them poorly

I play neutral often and I do it from any initial alignment. If you make enough good or evil choices, you'll eventually end up neutral. But it does mean you have to make choices you don't want to sometimes, such as a a major hit of some kind on a specific planet to raise your "good" side up some. I think we all have personal preferences as to what bonuses are more important than others. I tend to accept losing a chance on 20% or 50% or something to ships (aka the pirates event) if I need to rais

I think it would be great to be able to design a starbase complete with all its modules and the have a constructor be built for that spec, and sent on its one-use mission to build it. If you get more tech and want a different base, just send out a new constructor with the new plan in use and destroy the old starbase.

how do you remove the treaty after it has been given? You probably can't because these treaties are VERY valuable and you could re-use them over and over for insane trades (same for the AI too, I guess.)

I attempted to double-click on a dread lords scout ship. I got the "you can't do that" sort of sound, sort of like a thump sound - we all know it. Anyway, the app immediately froze and the sound played repeatedly. By the way, I noticed an exploit that could be used to blow metaverse games out of proportion (well normal games too) but I don't think I should just post it here. Not sure who to send i

Let me know if there's an email address or something you'd prefer these reports go to, btw? I went to exit the app (from the normal map view while in a game, right after quicksaving) and it brought up the confirmation dialog. I clicked to confirm and the entire app froze and didn't seem likely to unlock after a minute or so. So, I hit ctrl+alt+del and saw this had popped up behind the app (I wouldn't have seen it or known of it without leaving the app's full screen focus of course.)<br/

Also, I forgot to mention that I can't nullify these invaders either. I'm essentially helpless against spies. I click the Nullify button and nothing happens.

I created a custom race with the "Super Spy" ability. When another race sends a spy to my worlds, I: - See a spy icon on a tile they've sent an agent to and the production of the tile is listed in (red). - Receive a red spy notification icon, which when left-clicked says I'm immune because of my Super Spy ability. - See a reduction in production from the planet according to the production stat line at the top of the planet's info window. As far as I can tell,

Wow, Stardock usually has their stuff together, but it was really lacking on this download (yeah, I know, it's beta and all). I wasted two days waiting for an email download link that wasn't going to come I guess. Then I looked on the forum and saw this thread. Even then, the auto-updates didn't offer DA, I had to go to Games -> GalCiv2 -> DA -> Click Install. In other words, I had to find out how to install it on my own, buried in the options of SDC. I would have expected the

Wow. Why would Stardock want a customer like you, Axantur? I mean, all points aside, you clearly are not even open to the idea of discussion or debate, you came out with guns a-blazing in post one and got more belligerent in further posts. I don't think charging the market like a wild bull is a very good way to communicate, "I like your company and hope I can influence you to consider my opinion so I can keep liking this company." And to correct your last post, you didn't "ask" for anyt

I don't know if I'm crazy, but I seem to have had trouble with alignment since this update. I was about 30-40% between the neutral and good on the slider and I wanted to get neutral, so as I claimed the next 7-10 planets I took the 'good' choice even when it was a difficult one to take. I never could get to neutral. So let me get this straight... you wer
