Here I thought that StarDock was just another independent small developer that happened to create a smash hit when in reality they make programs for ATI (!), Nvidia (!) and the XboX 360 ! How's that possible?? I mean, isn't there other, better skinning programs..? StyleXP comes to mind. Well, this was certainly an eye-opener <b

I believe that GalCiv II has the serial that is required for updates to thank for some of its sales as many people tries to get most stuff for free but in order to get a better product they'll have to buy this game. And back in the day of Warlords II & III, cd-burners and empty discs were expensive. And most people didn't know how to get free games since there didn't exist any P2P software. Today, any 10-year old can download DC++, UTorrent

instanst : I agree that switching cd:s isn't fun and that the StarDock way (easy to pirate, hard to get updates) is great, but even those updates aren't that hard to get for non-legitimate buyers it seems That "license key" thing also seems like a good idea, but it has been cracked in every iteration so far. And it seems copyprotection

StarForce supplies a product which publishers want, and it works better than the rest of its competitors. And It's stupid to blame StarForce for that GalCiv II torrent link since it wasn't the company that did it but one of their employees! I'll have to ask you something though: If a copyprotection would emerge which would couldn't be emulated or cracked (Everything can be reverseenginered, lets say it takes too long) and which wouldn'

While I knew that GalCiv II was a wanted game I wouldn't think that it would become the #1 sold game in any store! And I didn't think that you could take down torrents that easily :/ Oh well, guess I thought that it was as hard as in Sweden ^^

#61 Francis Deshenes - How much starforce paid you for this post?? I did like to inform you that games with starforce are pirated too and not necessarly less than games without starforce because it's sure there is at least one hacker who take protection program hacking as a challenge and he like challenges. <br/

I'm one of those that talk for StarForce, but I didn't knew about StarDocks buisnessmodel of serialbound free updates. But every other company except a few others will only release a few patches - often bugfixes - and as such pirates will not lose much by pirating those games. About the StarForce admin posting a link to a torrentsite that's something that most people can find anyway....if he had said: "well, GalCiv II doesn

Great to see him being so astonished about the A.I. It says "buy this game NOW!" to the hardcore 4x gamers. It seems that you would have gotten 5/5 if you would have made better tutorials and included those supergraphics that you talked about.

When I try showing this game to some people, they first go "Pfft, graphics don't look half as good as Empire at War", then they ask if there's multiplayer, rant that a game without multiplayer is stupid, and go back to playing Amped 3 on Xbox 360 or some other no-brain game. I can't believe that! Real

Nice job StarDock! D [Size1]Now get working on Master of Magic II[/Size1] I'm one of those that try go get everything for free even if I have to scour the internet for solutions (Yes, I'm poor ) I want to support the independent developers but a free game weighs heavier than my goodwill

Heh, I can imagine StarDocks reaction when faced with a simultaneous launch of the sequel to the thronekeeper of 4x TBS space games knows as Master of Orion II. (Never played any MoO game actually. I was too young to appreciate such complex games back then. It looked really complex after all). Giving up on all their great plans of expanded content cause they thought that MoO III would utterly destroy GalCiv.

I wonder if their Fantasy TBS game will be MoM: Deluxe Edition or MoM II. I believe that sequels have the same core system but numerous enhancements that differ the game from the original. Like with HoMM II and III. Creature stacking, battling with wandering monsters, capture of resource structures and towns are all core principles that have always stayed throughout the series but have been refined and enhanced in several ways (Wait and Defend button f.x.). Deluxe Editions on
