You need the actual DesktopX program to run that DesktopX theme. What you downloaded was just the pieces that make up the Longhorn Lake theme (think of the theme as structured data). You now need the program to open/run that theme - which is DesktopX. You can find the DesktopX program at http://www.desktopx.net
I just went to google and searched for "microsoft office assistants." Of the initial links listed on the first page, only one had an assistant which I had not seen. The "NerdBird" - available at http://www.nerdbird.dk/assistant/ Interestingly, on the second page of links, there is a link for creating new Office Assistants.
You'll need to use Theme Manager to create a new suite. Once you open Theme Manager and start the process, it's pretty much self explanatory. Of course, you'll need to specify each program to load at startup - but they should load with the latest theme saved.
I guess that was what I was trying to put forward: "A 'best of' sub-library". Yes, you can filter to just Stardock Certified, and then you can have those displayed in order of downloads, or in order of ratings... My idea is that a "Best of" filter be the first set of widgets (or skins) that a user could see. Disclosure: I haven't tried out Konfabulator. However, from every news item / post that I've read, the biggest point made in Konfab's favor is the "sleek" look, "fantastic" widgets that are available for Konfab. As a somewhat new user to DesktopX, I would agree that finding the widgets that both looked nice and functioned well was not as easy as I would have thought it to be. I see what you are seeing also. I didn't take too much time to scan through the source but I can tell you that it's fairly easy to pop over to the World Wide Web Consortium and run a page through their W3C Markup validation page at http://validator.w3c.org/ Hope that helps...
You are hereby shunned! (inside joke... couldn't help myself) Never used Opera. Prefer Firefox over IE, Maxthon, Mozilla, etc.
It's not so much that they're duplicated, it's that separate blinds have them specified in the skin definition. You could try to determine which skins have the duplicate toolbars, or you could just leave them be. (I had 16 copies of the Microsoft Default Toolbar Glyphs - until I deleted off the skins that I was no longer using.)
So that the browser can keep track of where to put you on a page? Such as your next visit to this message - the cookie helps to put you at the last message??? Tracking cookies that don't cross website boundaries cannot (and really should not) be considered spyware.

With WC2K5 [http://www2.wincustomize.com], it is now possible to recommend a skin by going to the details view of a skin and clicking on the "Recommend this skin" link. Ditto on the zero problems... Actually have installed in on a few small networks (my clients') and no problems whatsoever.
Very nice! I especially like the "Newest" "Popular" sections acting like the wincust browser program does. I'm looking forward to this going live! And oh, the overall look is much less *busy*, and much more usable (in my opinion, of course). Byron
