Do I upload an executable or a zip file? What size screenshots?

I'm sure there will be many questions about how a gadgets should be presented.  Many of the answers will come out as we cross them.  But one particle issue/question that I can for see is,

"Should we upload our gadget as an Executable or within a Zip file?"

There is no definitive answer to this.  But in general if you have the ability to wrap your gadget into its own installer that an executable is probably fine.  However, if you cannot create your own installer then it is suggested that you add your gadget into a zip file and include a Readme file with information about the gadget and how to obtain support and any other files that are necessary for the gadget to run.

Actually as a generally rule all gadgets should have a readme file that explains the usage of your gadget and how to contact you for support related issues.

When uploading your screenshots to DesktopGadgets.com you should take the following into consideration:

You can upload up to 3 screenshots.  The first screenshot, lets not call it a screenshot, thats a bad term, lets call it your Gadget Ad.  This is important as this is what most people will see and judge your gadget by so make sure you take the time to present your gadget well in this image.

All Screenshots will be resized to the sizes of (300x240) and (150X120).  Keep this in mind.  You will want to design your Gadget Ad (main screenshot) so it scales well to this size.  Actually, its probably best to make it exactly 300 pixels wide x 240 pixels high. A tall screenshot will not resize very well and will get cropped making the image not quite what you intended it to be.

Clarification:

Gadgets should be uploaded in a ZIP file so that you can include a README file in with it that provides contact information and some basic documentation of your gadget.

I have several gadgets i'd like to include in a "pack" but id love to have some way to install this on the user's system.

Does anyone have a packaging system of any sort?

I found a good packaging program as well as a HELP file crator.
