Version 2.3: Writing code in VBA editor negatively impacted

Windows 11 Home, AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core processor, 32 GB RAM, NVidia RTX 5070.

When typing code into the VBA editor, the line will turn red and the cursor will be moved back, usually removing white space.

I'll type:

Code: vb
  1. Dim x as |

with the cursor where the | character is and then the cursor is moved back:

Code: vb
  1. Dim x as|

So I end up typing:

Code: vb
  1. Dim x asinteger

And so I need to cursor back to insert the space.

I had purchased this computer a couple of weeks ago and did not have this issue. Then, one day, it started happening. It was happening on my old computer but I figured it was something that I had installed along the way (it's about 4 years old at this point).

On a whim, I disabled Groupy by using the "Turn off Groupy for this account" and that behaviour immediately went away and I was able to type code without interference.

I don't know how to tell Groupy to not "look" at the VBA window. It's super easy to toggle the functionality so it's not a big deal, but it does make writing VBA code on my computers impossible.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I am not good at all in coding. But may I know which software was you using to test this? I will try to recreate your issue on my system. Also best if you can include more information.

  1. Windows 11 full version and OS Build number. Use Winver.exe.
  2. Groupy full version number.
  3. Application that you're having issue with.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply!

Winver says:

Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.7171)

Groupy says Version 2.3 and I just clicked the Check Now... button for updates, it says I'm up to date.

Microsoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2510 Build 16.0.19328.20244) 64-bit

Create a new workbook. Go to the View tab, click Macros. In the macro name box type "test" and click Create.

That will open the VBA editor.

Below the line that says "Sub test()" type:

Dim A as Integer

If you're able to reproduce the issue, you'll have trouble typing in that line.

No need to shut down anything

Disable Groupy

Go back to the VBA editor

Type the same line and you should have no problems.

Hi ddunn4,

Thank you for reporting this!

When typing code into the VBA editor, the line will turn red and the cursor will be moved back, usually removing white space.

We've logged the issue for review (Internal ref: ODNT-12155) and have addressed it in our current Beta release of the software.

We encourage you to try the Beta and let us know what you think.  For details and feedback, please visit:
