Stardock released Fences® 6 – a major update to its popular Windows desktop organization software with more than 20 million downloads. Fences is the easiest way to manage your desktop workflow by neatly organizing apps, files, and icons on the desktop.

Fences 6 introduces tabs, a feature that allows you to place multiple Fence groups together in a tabbed experience for a modern layout. And with the ability to dynamically add, remove, and apply color to a tab, Fences 6 continues to raise the bar as the best desktop organizational tool for Windows.

Also new in Fences 6 is the ability to apply a color tint to the icons on your desktop. This simple but innovative feature allows you to apply a color expression to all your desktop icons to create a stylistic and distraction-free layout or to help an individual Fence stand out. And when combined with many of the quality-of-life updates like improved navigation for Folder Portals™, Fences 6 is another significant step forward for functionality and personalization.

Fences is used by thousands of businesses, from Healthcare to Law offices and Finance organizations. To help these businesses deploy organized dashboards of desktop icons, Fences 6 for Business adds advanced tooling to create templated deployments with multiple configurations ready out of the box. And with Stardock also offering customized deployment configurations with each enterprise rollout, Fences 6 is the most configurable, deployable, and scalable version of Fences, ever.

"Fences 6 is our biggest leap forward for the productivity tool," said Brad Sams, General Manager of Stardock Software. "Fences is widely recognized as the best way to organize your desktop and with the new features in Fences 6, it is now the best tool for managing not only your desktop but every desktop within your organization.”

Fences 6 is available today starting at $9.99 for consumer and enterprise customers and it is also available in the award-winning suite, Object Desktop

Update is getting flagged as suspicious from ESET.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Most likely its False positive if you download the installer directly from Stardock.

Thank you,

Update is getting flagged as suspicious from ESET.

ESET is notorious for false positives which they don't bother themselves to actually test and correct.

If you are worried about the false positive warning, you can test it with a free downloadable Malwarebytes scanner here:

Eset is not the worst AV in this world and not the last one. This detection my be a false positive but it was push on the Stardock update channel.

May be more communication between Stardock and Eset should be a good idea.

You have no idea how many years/decades SD has communicated with ESET. Like c, Heisenberg's constant, and Avogadro's number some things just ain't gonna change.

Not in my mind to obvious one a historical issue. Never mind I'm client of both of you may be, with poor French English, I just want to have it simple. In fact I thought I was the last user of Fences (joke)

Ceci est une traduction Google. J'espère qu'elle n'a pas déformé votre langue maternelle ! Voici un article de 2014… il existe des articles antérieurs sur ESET.

The new Color Picker in Fences 6 is a game changer when personalizing Fences. I change my desktop image quite often and I like to color coordinate my Fences with the desktop. The new Color Picker makes this so much faster.

Thanks Dev Team for adding this awesome feature!

I love Fences 6, tabs are a great addition to it. Thanks for the update.

I would like to suggest features that will make Fences 6 still better. There's is a way to make feature suggestion?

If you wish to make a feature suggestion/request. You should create a new thread and post your suggestion in there. We will review it and forward it to Support.

When we group two tabs, is there a way for both names being with the same opacity?

At least to me, the name of the last one "rolled up" stays more, let's say, pronounced, than the other.

Thanks

Hello,
You should be able to recolor each tab. This should help differentiate each tab. Unfortunately, from what I know, the tab font and font color shared by all Fences.

I don't want to use another color. What i wanted was for the last tab used to not stay highlighted.

Thanks

Your suggestion could be added as a check box, I suppose...basj can add it to the Fences suggestions to the devs.

Hello,
I have forwarded your request to the Stardock Support Team for their review and recommendations. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We really do appreciate your feedback.

But, out of curiosity, If you have all the tabs with the same color and font size etc, how can you tell which one of the tab is the active one?

Thank you,

EICP responded via PM:

Hi,
The system is not letting me to reply to what you asked here
On the bottom of the page it says "Additional replies would exceed the limit for new accounts. If you have an issue regarding a product that you purchased and need assistance, please contact [email protected]."

So, i can tell which is the active one because the colour remains highlighted.
On the 1st screenshot i sent, i had been browsing the tab "Various" and then, when i ended (i use the rollup feature) the color of the word "Various" stays highlighted/"strong" even without the mouse cursor not being close to it.
On the 2nd screenshot, you can see the same behaviour bur after i "browse" the tab "Various 2".

Thanks

Yes, the last active tabs will still highlighted even after the fences rolled up. It just to mark which one is active. So, my question is, if all the tabs title is the same, as you requested it, yes?  How than would you know which tab is on top?

Thank you,

Hi - unfortunately no not at this time; in all of the display modes the unselected tabs are dimmed slightly as to indicate which tab is selected.
