Is this a variation of the "I reached my 50 mg download cap and now can't download anymore" theme? If so there are other sites with a wide variety of work and no download caps.

Privately owned sites are free to set their rules regarding use and access. This site has a download cap for those who have not purchased a product or site subscription. For those who have not reached the cap, during times of heavy site use priority access is assigned to those who have paid subscriptions or have purchased a product. Access is restored when the load on the site is back to the point where all users can be accommodated.

Fortunately skins and walls are not necessary to sustain life. It may be an irritation or an inconvenience but far from a tragedy. Especially since there are alternative venues available on the internet for such things should one not wish to (or financially be able to) purchase a $10 or $20 product/subscription.

to whome it may concern I myself think it quiet thankful of these fine artist to let you download 50mb of (free stuff). I was not a paying customer for about a year. I started buying about 3 mounth's ago. .
I think it is a pretty small price to pay to make your puter look (GREAT). I am not an artist and will never be one I just don't have the talent to do what these fine guy's & gal's can do I applaud thm with all my heart, the artist do not get payed for there work on this site they do it because they enjoy the ( i will call it creating beauty) and I enjoy putting it on my puter. I don't post munch I am a reader and this post upset me > > . but I guess some people think everything is a rip off if you have to pay for it .

Geezus...here we go again...Exactly how does this site in any way whatsoever blackmail anyone? I am forever amazed at these unfounded comments and accusations.

Ya know...The next time I go to buy a car I'm gonna tell them they should be ashamed at how they blackmail people into buying their cars, and further more why should I have to pay for it?...and you mean I have to pay for gas on top of it!

Its real simple...and follow along here...You don't "need" anything on this site...the world will not come to an end if you don't buy it...your PC will still work fine without it...no one here owes anyone a damn thing...no one is twisting anyones arm or holding a gun to anyones head to come here and purchase the software to make their screen look the way "they'd like it to"...no one here says you have to do this or that you have to buy the software...and there are no subbliminal messages...?...I have yet to see this stated anywhere on WinCustomize or Stardock.

Of course, if you want your screen to look like the screenshots you see here at WinCustomize you need the software. But again, you don't "need" it. Big difference between "need" and "want". You want it...no problem...buy the software and quit the constant whinning.

I come here because I like what they have to offer and I don't have the time to do it myself, I wish I did. But these great people here have taken their time and talent to make it available to anyone. And try, just try, going anywhere on the net and buying something that gives you so much for the price. And the concept here is a very simple one, you "want" it, buy it...you can't afford?...well...lifes a bitch and then ya die!

no way marbleman, the members of the site actually agreed wholeheartedly about this. one (or two?) of the servers crashed and wincustomize needed $$$ to get newwer servers (no not waiters) and so they put this policy up, but way before, it was discussed by the skinners and members that a limit had to be put to stop people who dont contribute anything from taking everything. nuthins free my man, but this is almost free. $20 and you download all you want for two years... im waiting to get my order form sent in.
