Right click of taskbar icons no longer works after 07-2024 Windows 11 update.

After the July update from Microsoft (KB5040527) a right click on any icon on the taskbar does nothing, no options presented at all. If I disable Start11 (v 2.08) and reboot to plain Win 11, the right click option works as expected.

This also occurred on a second PC.

I have tested the following and the right-click context menu on taskbar buttons works as expected in each scenario. (Windows 11 Pro - 22635.4000; Stat11v2 - 2.08)

Enhanced taskbar off (combined or uncombined in Windows settings)

Enhanced taskbar on (combined or uncombined)

Enhanced taskbar on (uncombined w/ Always hide text... checked)

It's possible another Start11 setting is causing this.

If you're willing, what happens if you roll-back the update?

It is the Align Top option that is causing the issue. When I set it to the bottom it works as expected.

I rolled back the update on my laptop, but it didn't resolve the issue.

I didn’t test top aligned, but I will and get back to you.

Okay, I set the taskbar at the top, and I can reproduce your issue.

@Basj Please report this issue to the development team.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, unless I am doing something differently, I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Refer my short video below. Perhaps I am doing something differently? If you see it, please point it to me so I can try again.

Thanks

The first part of your video is blurry and I can't see the Windows version info. How are you able to have the taskbar at the top with the Enhanced taskbar turned off?

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't think you could have the taskbar at the top without the Enhanced taskbar, but I see now you can. I watched your video on YouTube and see you are on 22631.3958.

Do either of you have this new Windows taskbar setting?

No, I don't have that one.

Windows 11 - 22631.3958 has some new taskbar features that are being rolled out gradually. It's possible we have those new features and you don't. It's also possible these new features are causing this issue with the taskbar at the top.

I'm also very curious as to how Start11v2 can place the taskbar at the top without the Enhanced taskbar turned on, as Windows 11 does not provide that option. Until you showed it in your video, I wasn't aware it was possible.

This what I see with the taskbar on the top.

I actually don't have that feature yet either. This has me stumped on why Basj's system is working properly as I have been trying to test different taskbar configurations to match his

Does everybody else except me also see that "Windows Insider detected" note on their system as pelaird shown in his video. This do not appear on my system. Not really sure why.

For reference I added my system Windows experience:

Also, I wonder if we all are having the same Start11 v2.08 version. This is mine. Start11Config.exe

I don't but I do like where your head is at. I do have OD insider access in the event 2.08 regular differs from the 2.08 insider version

Thank you for the information. I am now downloading and installing and see if I can have the same version and reproduce your issues.

Done installing and I now have the 2.0.8.1. But, right on taskbar button still work for me. And, I also notice that the "Windows insider detected" do not appear on my Start11 About page.
