[Feature Request] Side view for grouped windows

Would be great if existing Groupy functionality will be extended with a split-view feature

It would be great if existing Groupy functionality will be extended with a split-view feature. Groupy already allows to combine multiple windows in one window and switch between them using a task bar, so adding an option to show these windows side-by-side within the same area may be possible?

It would be even better if such feature were accomplished by ability to automatically group windows which were snapped using Windows default snapping feature (e.g. dragging window to either left or right edge of the screen). But I'm not sure how technically possible is this.

Will this feature be implemented soon? I think this will be a game changer!!!

I want it badddddd.

Hello,

The request was put in, but it is up to Support and Dev Team to implement it or not. So far there is no movement on this one. It may or may not be implemented at all.

Thank you,

I can think of many useful scenarios for such a feature. For example, if you're a programmer, you can create a group with File Explorer and Terminal for the same path — and show them side-by-side, stacked in one window, which you can move around and resize. This feature is just way too good.

+1 from me as well.

Basically what I am thinking is dual pane windows side by side.

With this idea groupy would become two groupy's side by side (group 1 window 1 and group 2 window 2)

This is my best idea as to how to actually implement this.

I will say, if this functionality comes to Groupy, I would actually purchase it. Right now, it's not quite where I'd end up using it regularly.

Dear Developers, let me express my genuine admiration for a split-screen functionality—it's truly a game-changer! 🌟 Scrolling through past discussions, I noticed a suggestion from 2018 echoing this need, yet its absence until now leaves me somewhat disheartened. 😔

Notably, those threads are filled with endorsements, attesting to the earnest desire for such a feature. It's clear this isn't just a fleeting fancy! 👍 With this in mind, might you reconsider incorporating split-screen into your plans? I'm convinced its realization would sway many fence-sitters towards making that decisive click to buy! 🛒

Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated; eagerly awaiting positive updates! 🙏

@basj
Another strong call for a dual-pane feature!

I'm coming from a Mac and use the app Forklift by Binary Nights, which provides me with two individually configurable workspaces, each side of which can contain tabs.

I divide my workspace into a pre-saved and therefore readily accessible set of local folders on the left side of the split workspace and (on the right side) a set of folders on our company server that I access regularly.

This makes working very convenient and saves a lot of time when it comes to storing or accessing files in a well-organized folder structure.

Just dropping by to remind about this request.
This would honestly be a killer feature.
Being able not only to group windows into tabs, but also split them side-by-side within the same container (like browser split view) would make Groupy much more powerful. I’m pretty sure a lot of users (including me) would gladly pay for an upgrade if this gets implemented

Hello,

Thank you so much for continuing to share your thoughts on this feature. I’ve already forwarded this request to our Support and Development teams for consideration, and I want to highlight that ongoing feedback like yours really helps keep ideas visible and shows how much interest there is in them.

While not every request can be implemented, please know that the teams truly appreciate the time and effort users put into suggesting improvements. I’m not directly involved in deciding which features make it into future releases, but your input is part of the ongoing discussion, and continued feedback from the community can help shape the direction of Groupy.
