Sins II: Our most commonly asked questions... that we can answer.

So we all know that Sins II is happening... but what's next? When can you get into the game? What's the dev timeline?

While we would love to answer all of your questions, we want to leave some for the imagination as we continue to develop the game. We're just as excited as you to tell you EVERYTHING, but what fun is that?

You can find the beginning of our development roadmap below. We'll be updating this as we move along, but here is what you can look forward to in the coming months:

As more questions continue to come in, we'll also update our FAQ page. Check that out here.

Cheers!

Glad to see there's at least another post! Since I've been active on the discord and forums, I can follow a lot of stuff, but maybe it would be an idea to just gather some of the questions and answers from the discord and forums. And maybe a little extra ship model would be nice? Something like this? :D Brad Wardell op Twitter: "Sins of a Solar Empire II transport. https://t.co/ycLMT0csid" / Twitter

Hey Devs,

I cant help but notice that you guys seem to be active, reading and replying a lot. Mostly to the whole Epic-controversy thing though while my questions (and the ones of many others) have been often unanswered...

For example:

What happened to the tech tree? Why is there now only one type of research structure now instead of two?
Why did you discarded your iconic design for something far less mature?
What other major changes will there be in regards to gameplay?

I know we 5s players are not very liked a lot but we do love Soase and we have been loyal all these years and also are very active on the forums. Would be very disappointing to me if we just get overlooked.

Greetings

Raba

I dont really like the cartoonish design of new ships, it doesn't feet the game style..

but probably it made for sake of distinguishable units like StarCraft2

I kind of liked the new designs. I thought they looked more distinct. I figure the incompleteness was due to unimplemented lighting effects and final touches and embellishments of the hull textures. We are, after all, at least six months from a release date.

Loved Sins 1, but pirates drive me crazy.

I will probably buy Sins 2 when it's on Steam. Hopefully no more pirates!

I like the more realistic look, but understand the new approach. Much easier to create base content this way and at a faster pace, expect the art to change a bit over the progression of development. There is also mods that will come to add and change those elements from the community. I'm hoping to see the pirate captain KeggeR floating around in a modified cutthroat :inlove:

We've heard the community on this one and it's being addressed. Thank you!

when will there be new screenshots or gameplay teaser video? Next year?

Check out our roadmap here. We plan to do monthly updates, so new screenshots will come with those major updates. Additional trailers with larger, feature heavy updates will be released as we develop the game, too.

We're still working on the overall look, and have even made improvements for our first Early Access, Technical Preview build coming up.

Are you planning on any sort of physical release / collectors edition for the full launch a-la Sins 1?

I am enjoying the game. I have some suggestions for you. If possible, it would be nice to have edge scrolling. Also, if we could have the ability to cycle through planets and fleets. Thank you for listening and if these suggestions don't make the final version of the game, it is still a good game.

Wow,  just wow...   i've been waiting this for a long time...   Owning all the sins series and all the dlc,  i'm very happy to been part of this new adventure.

for now, i just tested  the tech for few hours ....   got  hundreds and hundreds of ships and no slow down at all,   no crash,  no CTD,   everything is excellent

a few point from what i seen so far :

-   Planet orbits around the sun,  but we cannot figure what will the future connection between planets,   it's a little hard to attack ennemy if we are stuck on a system without a way back,    perhaps a tech could exist to figure how the system orbiting,  or what path will be available next,   do you see what i mean ?

-  i know there is now planet garrison and they are great,  i love to see hundreds of ships protecting my planets,  it's a living world,  really a great idea  but   do you intend to add  starbases   or  do you think it would add to much defense for the planet  ?     ( i love starbases )

About the planet movement, I was shocked when I looked back along my "path of conquest" to see that I can't get back to my nearest big planet or get re-reinforcements.  I started with a very light fleet, my Kol, 4 carriers, 12 destroyers, was going along the path of one of the ai's.  Luckily you don't have them set up to build up early, yet.  I do see they send onesey-twosy's to one of the large planets I conquered early.  So all I needed to do is set up 'blocker' asteroid with a garrison to get the singletons passing through.  Although planet movement kind of mucks that strategy up.

I don't think the ships look cartoonish. Mind you, I don't care about the looks or style as much as other people.
