0.90 Which Faction for My next solo playthrough.. ?

So, since I started playing again with 0.81 I've been playing a race until I feel a game is fairly "played out" until the 1.0 release drops and giving my impressions.  Thus far I've done a write-up for the Xeloxi, Krynn, and now Yor most recently.  I alluded to Basalisk that I'd be interested in doing a Drath game, but the issue is that I never spent any time with the Drath in GC3 and thought they were total losers in GC2 (they were ALWAYS the faction that would always whine about needing help, then surrender and give all their crap to someone you were fighting), so it's unclear to me that my impressions would really be that useful in playing them.  My mainstays were much more along the Drengin, Snathi, Korath sorts of factions, although I liked the Torians as research titans...

My impulse is to play out a Drengin game, as they're one of the solid GC mainstays, but I'm open to ideas.  I could do a Manti or Festron game as input on new factions is always useful (I feel like people are playing with the Navigator ability a lot, and Mimot seem really compelling in a straight-forward manner (ie I think they're well designed enough at face value that it's obvious why they're compelling and why people would want to play them) so I don't now that I'd add a lot to the discussion by playing either of these).  It doesn't seem like either Manti nor Festron are getting much playtime love, and aquatic races just got buffs for 0.90 (prob because they'd been underwelming?)...

Any strong opinions on which races people would be interested in my faction playthrough thoughts?  I'm open to suggestions.  It's unlikely that I'll fire a game up prior to Tuesday, but at this point I'm leaning toward Drengin..

cheers,

drath would def be a very different race due to the +25hp policy. it makes them best with the swarm tactic, as well as giving you bonuses for trading with civs at war, so that might be fun to try to pull off too. personally, i havent played them much, even though i really like them, just because i think the +25hp would make the game too easy early on. now that they have .8 growth though it might even out more, but the best tactic with them will prob be early attacking to counter the low growth rate. drengin would prob be a little more of a challenge i think, and you would get to check out all the new slaving stuff too. i havent checked that out too much myself. well whatever you pick, have fun!!

It's interesting that this is a flat bonus, rather than %.  Is that intentionally to get them over the low-growth early game hump?

well the low growth rate was just put in, but the +25hp has always been there since alpha. but yeah, i think that was supposed to be the tradeoff.
