0.81 Drath review

so after seeing that these guys were going to have their growth rate lowered to match their lore in the next update, i figured i'd check them out again. first, love the new visuals for them, seriously, that one's like the best visual imo. and the wealth-hording dragon aspect that increases approval is a great touch for them. that 25hp bonus they get might be a little too good early on though i think. i know that aspect is supposed to make them best at the swarm tactic, and great early attackers, but like the onyx i think this hp boost might be a little too op starting off. trying to keep the swarm tactic as their main in mind, here's an idea i had that might help them still be good swarmers while making them not so OP right at the beginning...

Give them an hp boost that's dependent upon the size of the largest ship in the fleet. so if it's all tiny and small ships, like +15hp bonus. if there's a med or large ship in there they all get +20, huge +25. this would encourage building bigger support ships as the game progresses that make the swarm even stronger, while making them not too op starting out. i think it would also work well with the dragon aspect, the larger the biggest "dragon" in their fleet, the stronger all the other dragons become.

Thanks for your feedback! The Drath are my favorite, too - but I'm strongly biased toward dragons, so I don't think that's any surprise to anyone who knows me.

yeah dragons and treefolk have always been favs of mine, so i'm really happy with both those ones. so far the baratak are actually my fav but to be perfectly honest i havent really wanted to use the drath because i though that the +25hp would make things too easy with them. i know i could just not use that policy but that somehow doesnt seem right with them :P

Agree with you about the visuals .  One of the few races on the diplo screen that I can't help but to watch for a few seconds whenever they appear.

Looking fwd to playing a Drath game myself.  Maybe next game (currently on a Yor game, trying to see if I can get the Festron to eat them or if this has been fixed)!  They always seem to shake out on top of the pile of AI's in most of my games, so they must play pretty decently.

was just thinking that this change would also make people want to target the big ships in the back even more if they could, since they buff up the smaller ships more than most. might encourage people to want to switch up tactics when they encounter this race, and make fleets that are designed for surviving a swarm assault and taking out the huge dragon ship in the back as quick as possible in order to make the rest of the swarm less powerful (either right as the huge ship is destroyed preferably, or just so that any remaining ships are less powerful after the battle). would def make people a little nervous when then see a really big Drath swarm fleet with one huge dragon ship ;)
