How do I do Intergalactic travel?

(Galactic Civilizations 3)

I seem to be stuck in my starting area..explored it all but cant leave it to go to another sector

Says "Out of Range" when standing next to border

I have research just about everything in engineering all the way up to Enhanced Warp Drive (not at Slipstream yet)

Whats the secret to crossing to another section?

Cheers

Drives just make your ships move faster, not further. To extend your ship range, you need to research Life Support technologies in the Engineering research branch. These give your ships a flat increase in Ship Range and unlock ship modules that increase the Range of that ship. Also, building star bases and settling planets increases your Ship Rang.e

Ahh..thanks

I'm playing my own custom race and have terrans as an ally (AI) and the AI has cut a path all the way across the map (Insane Map Size) will be nice to know how.

Yea, starbases are your best route to extend your range.  You can also research life support techs to improve it as well.

I had an explorer enter a slipstream before I had read these posts, and now the ship is stuck, neither able to advance nor to return. Is that a bug? Will it un-stick when I research the relevant techs?
