New Factions

Adaptive

The Tyrell Corporation, nicknamed Adaptive, has never found an obstacle on Earth that could not be surpassed with a mixture of human talent and artificial intelligence. For every challenge, the question is what ratio of brains vs silicon should be applied to the problem. Use the correct tools, and even the toughest nut can be cracked. Tyrell may be late to the colonization efforts, but don’t mistake tardiness for a lack of competitive grit.

Each Adaptive bonus is geared towards allowing the utmost flexibility to be applied to the challenge at hand. Tyrell can hire either Human or Robotic workers when upgrading their HQ, which cost glass or electronics respectively. When Human workers are hired Advanced Buildings constructed next to the Adaptive headquarters receives a efficiency bonus. Each time Robotic workers are hired production buildings gain a efficiency bonus in an increasing radius from the HQ. Tyrell also brought their patented hybrid engines to space which use both fuel and power for maximum performance.

Inventor

The aerospace industry is not for the complacent, and Hutchings-Reeve Systems is anything but. Known as the Inventors to their competition, Hutchings-Reeve has proven time and again that agility, innovation, and a sound business plan are the keys to success. Having studied the failure of many firms’ failures in space, the Inventors brought their trademark engineering talents to bear and have created a vast array of custom designs for the colonization efforts. Hutchings-Reeve is confident that this innovation, coupled with a history of superior leadership, will lead them to success on Mars and beyond.

Both Inventor bonuses highlight their superior engineering talent. First, the Inventor headquarters not only gains the resources it crushes, but it also can continue to mine resources that would otherwise be lost. Second, Inventors brought multiple designs of each building type, which change the mixture and amount of both inputs and outputs. Every HQ level Inventors can retrofit one more building to an alternative design, providing them with the capacity to match changing market conditions

Balance Changes

Elite

Elites have received the largest changes in Continuous Innovation. Extra claims after four optimizations, starting shares, and construction with aluminum or silicon have been replaced with new bonuses. Elites upgrade with less steel and all building construction uses silicon instead of aluminum. Construction of Advanced Buildings decreases the cost of the next Advanced Building of the same type. Every two completed optimizations decreases the cost of future optimizations. And last, the Elite pleasure dome no longer requires chemicals, but produces less profit.

Nomadic

Nomads see the return of some starting resources, but they only found with one HQ. Nomads receive their second HQ when upgrading to level four.

Robotic

Robots have slightly lower electronics upgrade costs.

Scientific

Scientists have replaced the free goon squad with a small freeze resistance.

Other Changes

Other notable balance changes: Power production has been rebalanced on Ceres and Io to make Solar Panels useful. Superconductor’s cost was increased, Transparent Aluminum replaces glass at a 2 to 1 ratio, Nanotech refunds 75% of the building’s construction cost.

Features

Random Locations

Lobby host must own The Ceres Initiative to play on Ceres and Jupiter’s Forge to play on Io.

Random Locations allows a multiplayer lobby host to choose a random location to play the match on. The host can choose either ranked probability or even probability between locations. The location is chosen via the map seed.
