Startup question

fences seems to be starting twice

As part of a regular system health check I reviewed the startup services and processes on my machines. I have Fences 3.05 installed on two Windows 10 systems, and on both of them the Task Manager > Startup list shows two separate "Fences Settings" entries:

The first machine reports two Fences Settings and one rundll32:

Fences Settings      Stardock Corporation   Enabled   Low
v Fences Settings (2) Stardock Corporation   Enabled   Low
     Fences Settings    Stardock Corporation                   Low
Windows Host Process (Rundll32) Microsoft Corporation   Low

The second machine reports two Fences Settings and two rundll32 processes:

v Fences Settings (2) Stardock Corporation   Enabled   Low
     Fences Settings    Stardock Corporation                   Low
Windows Host Process (Rundll32) Microsoft Corporation   Low
v Fences Settings (2) Stardock Corporation   Enabled   Low
     Fences Settings    Stardock Corporation                   Low
Windows Host Process (Rundll32) Microsoft Corporation   Low

Is this correct or is Fences really being started twice?

That is expected, yes.

It was put in place by the Department of Redundancy Department for edge cases when things didn't start as expected.

I came to the forum looking for information regarding two Fences entries in the Task Manager in the Startup pane:

Just to confirm, both should be left as enabled?

Thanks for clarifying. :)

I was looking for info on the 2 fences in my start up.  Answer seems to be that both are needed....but before I found this thread I had disabled BOTH and fences still loaded and seems to be working properly.  Am I missing something?

Did you reboot after you disable it? If you did, and Fences still load normally. Did you recheck taskmanager and see if both of Fences startup process still disable?

Thank you,
