I've got a suggestion for an "unsitely improvement".  Unicorn and Dolphin emoticons.  And some tacks so I can drop a few down on the road and pop those bike tires for Starkers.  

After all, "flat" is the new look. [e digicons]*_*[/e]

As for the tacks, that d' only work if rode my bike these days... with worsening arthritis I can barely lift my leg over the other side to operate both pedals... and riding side-saddle ain't an option.

However, I do like the unicorns and dolphins idea.... it'd piss more than just a few people off. [e digicons]:grin:[/e] [e digicons][/e] [e digicons]:rofl:[/e]

 

Oh, and artistically speaking, flat is actually the OLD look.... eg; prehistoric cave paintings, pyramid paintings, Ancient Greek and Roman art. [e digicons][/e]

Cave art was spray painted. Romans and Greeks chiseled their's. That's somethin'...right?

Yeah, and how that pisses me off. 

There I am, spelling things correctly in English, as it is in the ENGLISH dictionary, and some Yankee spell checker tells me it's fechen wrong.  Like what a fechen nerve.... telling me, an Englishman, I'm wrong.

Ive been working in the website industry for over 5 years now.  And the simple fact is, if a business does not update their website regularly to keep up with the times...they lose business...its really that simple.

Its not about what looks good, its about usability and how easy the visitor can navigate the site.  Your website has 5 seconds to make a first impression and 1 minute to keep the visitor at your site. (easy navigation, can find what they are looking for instantly) If you fail on both the user hits the back button.

 

Thats why I think the new forum design is a good idea and I like it.

Just to supply a little reasoning behind some of the recent changes...

As many of you know, our forum system is used across around 15 sites; https://forums.galciv3.com , https://forums.starcontrol.com , https://forums.stardock.com , etc. We are looking at adding new engagement features but prior to the latest update it was quite painful as each forum had a lot of specific styling which made any change a pain because then we are stuck testing that change in 15 different versions.

So we did a pass through to combine 99% of the site styles and make sure we didn't have cases where we had gray text on black backgrounds. This will ultimately allow us to add features quicker without the testing headache.

We would love to let the site take up the whole width of your browser and scale to be mobile friendly, this is just a step in that direction.

Good to hear Orcnbeans, and really nice to have communications from someone that actually works at Stardock. It will be nice to see the future changes. Having operated 3 websites in the past myself, I know what a pain things can be. Keep up the good work!  [e digicons]:thumbsup:[/e]

It's nice to know that Stardock has plans to improve its websites... but I still don't like the MS blue.  Sorry!!!!

I haven't noticed any change at all, But... It could be because i use stylish and the Wincustomize black theme

And, pray tell, where do I find this highly desired 'black theme'???

Cos I'd nigh on walk backwards across the Nullabor in thongs [Aussie for flip flops] to get the classy black theme page back again.
