Thanks for being a Lifetime Founder for Star Control!
Grab your space helmets and your thesaurus, friends - it's time for you to name a planet!

How to submit your planet name:

  1. Go to www.starcontrolgame.com/nameaplanet 
  2. Login with the Stardock account you purchased the founder's edition under and submit away!

 

But first, there are a few provisions - quid pro quo, you know how it goes:

  1. Only ONE entry per user. You can change your mind and resubmit your entry, but it will have to go through a re-approval process.
  2. Stay away from trademarked or copyrighted material. As much as we love Star Wars, we can't name a planet Alderaan (that'd be a little foreboding for its people, wouldn't you say?) or name one after any of your favorite characters.
  3. Funny, silly, or otherwise ridiculous names are welcome (even encouraged! This is Star Control, after all), but please use good judgement when submitting. Stardock reserves the right to reject any suggested names. We will accept absolutely no names that involve any sort of offensive or inappropriate content.
  4. Planet names are limited to 16 letters/numbers/spaces. You may use any combination of letters, numbers, and spaces that you want, but please keep in mind that the name will be converted to title-case in-game (which means only the first letter will be capitalized). 
  5. You can submit a screen name or real name if you like. Numbers and punctuation are acceptable in these cases.

Nice.

One question: what if we submit a name that's already in the game? It's been confirmed there are thousands of worlds to explore. If by chance we use our submission on a name you guys already came up with, do we get an alternate submission?

I have another question. If you encourage it to be ridiculous and reading between the lines: something special and If I try to be overly smart, I will try to come up with a planet name in Finnish (as my native tongue). Is that A) Ok? B) what do you mean with letters? Are characters like: ä, ö, å allowed? If there are restrictions, then you might want to list them here.

That would be something we would most likely handle on a case-by-case basis.

I would not recommend using special characters in the names.
