Fallen Enchantress vs. Sorcerer King

I love the streamlined play in Sorcerer King and the crafting system, though it can easily make you incredibly OP with a little thought.  What I do not like and miss greatly from Fallen Enchantress is the lack of depth in the city system and the fact that you can only play the one race.

I would love to have the advantages of the new item system, coupled with the robust research tree (or a version of it) from FE as well as, most especially, FE city depth.  The fact that cities specialize (enclave, town, fortress, each making use of your research choices differently) lent a real complexity and satisfaction to the planning of your infrastructure in FE).

I do not see why they could not keep both.  The tactical versatility and pace of SK with the strategic depth of FE.  Now that would be a game with incredible replay value.

Last balance thing... anyone playing this a few times will quickly realize that the ranger character is head and shoulders more powerful and useful than any two other heroes combined.  Quickfire, used well, with a group stuffed with well developed archers trained in a heavily enchanted town, will destroy all but the most powerful groups outright.  Add to that the Falcon skill: the ultimate scout who can can equipped heavily without fear as it is immortal as a hero and can wander the entire map scooping up mats like there is no tomorrow.  It would be nice to have a compelling reason to start with another hero without feeling like you are artificially selecting another level of difficulty by passing him up.

Actually, the one dwarven hero is really OP with a few levels.  He'll tear through stuff and never let anyone get another turn.  Widely considered one of the most OP heroes out there.

I am aware of the dwarf and have maxed him.  He can really get going yes, if he kills everything in  one shot.  However he ca also be sidelined through a slow.  He is not guaranteed to open, whereas, with the ranger, all your archers open and with enough gear and support (I had one city with 15 essences, so every unit coming out of there had plus 3 levels, insane HP, intiative and def) they will clear the battlefiled before any enemy gets a roll.

Quickfire guarantees this.
